Start Date: January 22nd

School Attending: Mt. San Jacinto College, Murrieta, CA

Degree Seeking: Registered Nurse

School History: Completed my pre-req's last spring, took CNA this fall and starting RN in January. Really glad I took CNA course, gave me basic skills to work from.

Personal Info: I am 22 years old, been married for 2 years with no children- trying to wait until I finish school to have kids. Props to those who have them and are going to school.

Anything else you want to share: I am excited but not as excited as I thought i would be when i found out I was accepted. i am really book smart but I get anxiety when doing manual skills. my critical thinking is very hampered when i am anxious. Anyone else struggle with this? Yesterday I was really down on myself doubting that this is possible for me to succeed. I struggle sometimes in interpersonal skills. Also, most in my class are mature in their 30s, I feel like I am inferior because I am younger....anyone else facing this???

How are you preparing?: I have started teaching my self drug names- started with GI drugs. Also been learning pharm. math basics from links from allnurses. Daytonites posts are very helpful with numerous informative links. Also want to learn lab values- normals to be familiar with.

God is with us!

I know I'll be on allnurses a lot during school for help. Its a great support resource!

Great people willing to help and explain....

anything else you want to share: i am trying to get my wedding planning close to completed by the time my nursing classes start. thank god for my mom that she has stepped up as my wedding planner and for free!! other than that trying to get my house organized and enjoying reading novels.

start date: january 4

school attending: baton rouge general medical center school of nursing; baton rouge, la

degree seeking: adn

school history: started school back during fall '02, pre-med was the major then, but changed it to pharmacy. now, i've decided that i really wanted to do nursing, so i've finished all my pre-req's during spring 07. i was really surprised that i got accepted into the nursing program.

personal info: i am living with my boyfriend of four years and our two dogs. he supports me in anything i want to accomplish out of life.

anything else you want to share: i am seriously so nervous and anxious right now about nursing school. i don't know what to expect and if i will do well or not.

how are you preparing?: i am buying everything that i can afford to buy at the moment. i can't buy my textbooks yet because i have to buy it from school. i actually bought the mosby's series lil study supplements to read before school starts. this way i won't be totally lost or be overwhelmed.

I just wanted to pop in and wish you all good luck!! Don't worry, if I can make it through first semester so can you!!

Orientation Date: January 22nd

Start Date: January 22nd

School Attending: Sacramento City College (part-time program)

Degree Seeking: ADN

School History: Completed my pre-req's last spring (most schools require all prereqs listed on the transcripts which results in a "dead" semester).

Personal Info: I'm married with a 7 year old and a 3 year old. I'm a bit anxious as I've stayed home with both of my kids since my first was a year old. Since I'm doing a part-time (evening & weekends) program, I won't need to use daycare but it will still be a big adjustment to them for mom to be gone every other weekend.

Anything else you want to share: I feel the same way as Emily - I feel very good about academics but extremely nervous about clinical skills. I've been volunteering though and that has helped calm my nerves a little.

How are you preparing?: I am reading "Test Success" by Barbara Vitale right now - great book! I also have been studying dosage calcs and medical terminology. But mostly I am enjoying the holidays with my family as it is the first one in a couple years that I haven't been in school and it will probably be the last one for a very long time where I won't be either in school or working.

I am worried about not succeeding as well. I think this is a normal feeling before starting...basically the unknown of how things will happen. Also, don't feel inferior to your classmates...you are all there for the same reason and age has nothing to do with it...just go there, learn what you are there to learn and focus and you'll be just fine...and they will see that quickly as well!!! Good luck!

Thank you for the reassurance! I just have this vision of leaving him there and he is freaking out thinking I left him there for good! lol, it's a really good daycare though, so I'm sure he will be in good hands.
