How about a thread that will allow us to introduce ourselves to those who are new and the new students can do the same.

I am Stephany, 42, mother of 3 children, a son 22, a daughter 15, and a son 13. I am an LPN of nearly 11 years, and I am in my first semester of a five-semester rn program.

hi, my name is tara....i'm in my 3rd semester of a 18 month r.n program. my next rotation is gigu. i graduate next summer. i love this board. im 24 and have no kids. i'm lucky enough to only work 10-15 hours a week. i passed my final on may 5th. it was cummulative. can you believe there were only two b's in a class of 50. 16 people failed. that sucks but im hanging in their. my summer class is 6 weeks. usually each semester is 8 weeks. i have 2/ 12 hour shifts in the hospital for those 6 weeks and lecture 8:30am-12:30 pm on mondays and fridays. so its major crunch time. this is supposed to be the hardest classs of the program till i get to ortho/ neuro. at least i have all of july and august off till the fall session starts, than its full swing for 1 yr and maybe a few week breaks in between. i work with a psychologist group now and i hope to go into pediatric psychology. or anything dealing with kids, maybe ob. well i guess ill think about that when i get through school. good luck to every one!!!!!!!!!!

welcome! all the best to you.

:p Hi guys! My name is Steven, and this is my first post. I am 33 y/o, I work as an RMA at an urgent care clinic, and I am a Hospital Corpsman in the Navy Reserves. I just received my acceptance letter to a BSN program as a junior transfer for summer entry. I'll be doing all my sophomore nursing classes this summer, and have junior status this fall. I'm very excited about getting started, as i've been working on pre-req's off and on for four years!! After school I'm hoping to receive a commission as a Navy Nurse Corpse officer. Any advice you guys can give a new nursing student will be appreciated!! Bye for now.

Hi everyone. I don't know why I never posted in this discussion as I've been using this board for some time now. My name is Susan but everyone calls me Suzy. I am 50 years old (egads) and have been accepted to nursing school which I start in August. I am soooo nervous. Being a non-traditional student I question my ability but nursing is what I have always wanted to do. I was accepted to a couple of schools after my h.s. graduation but made some really bad choices at the time and never followed up on my dream until now. Yesterday I got my orientation package from the school and now have to set out to get my student nursing uniforms and get my books. This is getting all too real for me and I want so much to succeed but like I said I'm really nervous--but I guess this is normal (??)

This is a great website and I look forward to reading and posting a lot more in the future.

Cheers for now.

Welcome Suzy!!!!! Good Luck to you. I am sure if you look around you will find lots of non-traditional students. Heck, I am 25 y/o Geologist going back!!!!!!!!!!!:roll

suzy, welcome. you are still young and being a little nervous, in my opinion, is healthy. i am nearing 43 and in my 3rd semester of an rn program.

you can do it!
