How about a thread that will allow us to introduce ourselves to those who are new and the new students can do the same.

I am Stephany, 42, mother of 3 children, a son 22, a daughter 15, and a son 13. I am an LPN of nearly 11 years, and I am in my first semester of a five-semester rn program.

Hi, I'm 40, finishing up prereqs, and I expect to get a BSN! I am about to be divorced , live in southern Maine with my five pound superpuppy Maltese dog *Peetle* and am looking forward to getting to know folks on this site. I wanted to ask, too: what was your hardest subject (everybody feel free) and how did you tackle study time problems? Any help or tips to pass along regarding study techniques? It's hard to be 'old' and back in school, lol!

Hi everyone I am new to this site and just love it. I have read some pretty interesting stuff. I am 28 and finishing my prereq's and starting a BSN program in the Spring '06 semester. I can't wait. I have no kids except for my two spoiled westies, Abby and Gus. My mom is a RN so I am trying to keep the tradition going on. I only wish like most of you I started after high school, oh well you are never to old to learn.

Hi, my name is Debbie and I am a late blooming baby boomer. I am the mother of three grown sons and a wife of 21 years. I will be attending Quinsigamond CC, which is in Massachusetts, this Jan 06. in their ADN program. This month I graduated from local CC with double Associate Degrees in Science, one in Medical Assisting and the other in General. I completed all prereqs for Quinsigamond CC while getting my degrees. Thank God!

I have been reading all the threads, and I chuckled when I came across the one where the student nurse was going to take her state finals. For one thing I had no idea that the tests were given on computers but what made me laugh was the mention of the barf bags provided. I empathize with her...I had to go and take my Medical Assistant certification exam last weekend and I have been stressed out about it since January. Well, to make a long story short I could have used that barf bag the night before the exam!! Now the 12 weeks of waiting to see if I passed begins.

I'm so very glad that I have found this site.

Hi! I will graduate August 12 (and counting) with my BSN. This is my second BS degree. I did an accelerated program in upstate NY that lasted one year.

Greetings all! I'm 22 work days away from saying "bye-bye" to a 25 year career in IT and "hello" to one in nursing... and I can't wait. Have wanted a career in medicine since grade school, but unfortunately made a decision in the hubris of my youth that took me down the wrong path. While I've enjoyed pretty decent success in IT, it just never "fit."

Now, with the support of a terrific wife, some lucky business transactions, and undoubted divine intervention at the admissions office, I'll be starting an accelerated BSN program.

On a rather humorous note, my current boss is insisting that I go on "leave of absence" instead of resigning outright. Not wanting to be overly confident of success, I've agreed. Now, when the subject of school comes up, he smiles and says, "You'll be back." He has no idea....

Hi Works2xs,

Congrats on getting accepted! :balloons: What program did you get into for the accel'd BSN? I did the high tech to nursing switch too! It's a lot of hard work, but you'll enjoy it more than the IT unemployment cycle!
