I made an amazing discovery!!!

Ok, I do not wanna mention any names because I do not want it to sound like I am trying to flog a product.

My wife is disabled and has trouble typing, so she decided to get some voice recognition software. She found the software on Ebay for $7. Well I did not really think much of what she had done. Then I realized that I could use it to take notes form my readings. Man what a difference, I was able to take notes on the assigned weekly reading in 2 hours,:thankya:the amount of reading I woud have had to do would have taken me 5 or 6 hours the old pen and paper way. This is gonna be my life saver in school.

Good idea. Do you skim the book, highlight important passages, & read them out loud to be typed by the software?

Do you just read your notes out loud?

How do you decide what to say?

I use VR software at work. It's pretty funny some of the things it comes up with :)

I read Each paragraph and then summarize it out loud.

The program is Dragon Naturally speaking 4.0, it is an older version but it works great. It notices most medical terms, as I was just using it for taking A&P notes. Any words that is does not know you can teach it.

I have had to teach it lots of words, but was suprised at the amount of medical words that it knows. Still with teaching it new words and the few mistakes it makes, it is way faster than pen and paper.

I think the version I have is from 1999, it works great and I only paid $7. I am told the better the sound card that you have, the better that it will work.

Right now it is able to recognize my wifes speech and mine, and it can be trained for other voices, but I am not sure how many. I had an earilier version of Dragon and it was a joke so I was not to thrilled that my wife was picking up this garbage, but when I started using I was very impressed.
