I will be offered a job TOMORROW!!!!! I am planning to work on my home floor that I work on as a tech now....figured that I would get the best training being with people that I understand, staff I can trust, knowing who to watch out for, and knowing roughly the procedures/protcols for the general cases we get.....I feel relieved, knowing that I am finally on the way with the first job!!!

Now all I need to do is get through the capstone this week, pass exit on Friday and get ready to graduate!!!!

PS...I need some thoughts that my friend is offered the other position, cause how cool is that to work with one of your cool friends! and the manager goes on friday..."I think you'll be happy......" so cool beans!

Congratulations! I hope it's everything you dreamed it would be and more. You deserve it after all your hard work!

Many congratulations! I can't wait to be in the position you are in now

YAY CONGRATS!!!!! and GOOD LUCK ON THE EXIT test!! LET US KNOW HOW YOU DO! I am sure you will ROCK IT!

Sweeeeet!

I hope all goes well with your transition from being a tech to becoming the nurse. Surely you'll meet some that may doubt your strengths or be jealous of your authoritative position as the nurse in charge of the techs. Just keep doing the best work you know how to do. I swear to you, since I'm having to do orientation again a second time, at another hospital-- it's not easy, remember too to praise your preceptor when he or she gives you constructive criticism, is there for you when you have a concern, makes plain to you the workings of the charting system. Please don't appear to know it all early in the game, humble yourself!

Specializes in Oncology, Med-Surg, Nursery.

Congrats!!!!

Congrats, locolorenzo - you've worked hard for it. I'm sure you'll make a great nurse and a fun co-worker. Good luck to your pal!

:ancong!::yeah:

i hate to be one to be posting negative thoughts here, but my first job was on a unit where i had worked as an aide. it was 7 months of trouble. the aides did not take me seriously and neither did the lvns. very few people were willing to help me except people who were new employees. it was like the great staff i knew and had worked with had a 180 degree change in attitude and were getting a great thrill in watching me flounder instead of helping out. i think a lot of it was jealousy. every time i made the slightest mistake they reported it to the manager instead of helping me to learn and adapt. part of the problem was that the manager allowed it to happen. after 7 months i had enough and quit. i hope your experience is better. i would not recommend that you do this. work in the same facility, but on another unit.

I understand where you are coming from Daytonite....believe me I thought long and hard about that. to the point where I actually sat down with 2 of the women I work with tech to tech and asked "what do you think about me being your nurse for your patients?" And they each said about the same thing "It's fine...you are a good tech, you'll be a good nurse, and we know that you can't do EVERYTHING for us....but you also know what you CAN do when you have a minute, and that will be what makes you or breaks you...If you want to pawn everything off on us...ok, but you remember what it was like....If you do the little things you can for the patients, you'll be ok....."

I hope that doesn't happen. I hope that the people I work with don't plan for me to fail....However, I'm not shy about speaking up for myself....and I know that I always have options....I'm friends with just about everyone on the unit...so, we'll see how it goes....
