I have to do a paper for humanities covering something from ancient times (egypt, greece, famous people,) does anyone have suggestions on something you may have used to do a paper? I am at a loss... Thanks -

I wrote a seven page essay once regarding a comparison of market places of ancient times and todays malls. I discussed how the social needs of people & the "blending of spirits" occurred at ancient marketplaces versus today's malls where people don't get social needs met, blah, blah, blah.....

How about doing a process description of mummification? Since, you're going for nursing try narrowing your options down to something from the past the relates to health or ancient rememdies or surgical procedures?

Good luck

Hi when I took humanities we had to write a paper as well. I live in the Washington DC metropolitian area. So I decided to visit the Smithsonian Museum. I choose a few artifacts from a certain era and gave an indepth decription as well as my personal opinion on them. If there are any museums in your area this may be a good idea to try.:) :chuckle :rotfl:

I've got to write a paper for my Western Civ class something like what you are describing.... I can't offer any advice, as I'm about to start writing mine as well, but I can feel your pain here! Good luck!

I actually did one of my papers on the mummification process!!! It was facinating and since we were homeschooling the kids at that time, we fit it all into a unit on ancient Egypt -- whole family got into it!! (built a pyramid of sugar cubes, went to Chicago's Field Museum and spent all kinds of time in the Egypt section, read about tombs, compared today's embalming etc with the mummification process --- got into what other after- life theories were out there ....etc.

You might want to pick a certain health care topic that interests you and look at it historically. I always found great plagues and disasters interesting. There was just a great show on PBS about the 1918 worldwide influenza epidemic.

You might also want to do a paper on some aspect of nursing history ... and/or in a different culture. Childbearing practices (and contraceptive practices) of ancient cultures -- or simply of other cultures -- often make fun reading.

I still haven't decided what to write on. I have spent hours on the internet searching on Ancient egypt, greece, rome, nothing!!! I have kinda thought twice about the Dead Sea. Not sure if I can find enough info for a 800-1000 word report. So , I'm still undecided.

Try actually going to the library. If you browse the shelves of books related to your areas of interest (and/or professional journals), you can often find the stimulation you seek. It's much more effective than the Internet, which contains only a small fraction of the literature, information, and knowledge accumulated by mankind over the millenia.
