How Do You Get Motivated?

I'm tired.

I get to school at 8am, study until 10am, class from 10-3:30, home to cook, clean, and be mommy, and then it's time for MORE studying. By the time 8:30 rolls around and I throw the kids in bed I don't want to hear about nursing. I don't want to think about nursing. I don't want to read or write about it nursing.

But I have no choice. Schoolwork haunts me like a very angry ghost, and it must be done.

So how do you get yourself back in the saddle when you'd rather have a root canal?

Have you tried taking one day off from school work completely? I do not know your schedule 7days a week, but if you could try to have one day where you do nothing school related, it might help you get refreshed and motivated for the rest of the week. Your schedule sounds like you are getting really overworked :( I don't know how people are able to do school and be parents... it is hard enough for me and I don't have any children.

Girl what made me feel better , I completely broke down in class had to walk out. Went to the bathroom washed my face felt so much better. I'm a single mom of 3 boys ages 8.7.6 yes it tough but I'm doing it just not for me them. I don't know what part ur in but I started first 2 weeks starting to love it

I don't know, but when you figure it out can you please let me know? I'm struggling with this very thing right now, which is why my kids are in the back yard eating otter pops while I'm screwing around on AN instead of writing my care plan. My best guess is that it will get done when I'm good and ready!

My good friend from my college round one posted on my FB wall today with information about a trip we reeeaally want to take. In order to go, I need to graduate and get a job as an RN so I can afford it. That was my study motivation for today :) I also think about what it would be like to have to retake this semester and that scares the crap out of me enough that I drop what I'm doing and pick up a book, lol.

France. That and paying down my bills.Bestie and I want to go husband free for our 40th bdays which will coincide with graduations and hopefully a job.

I print out my student loan totals and cry.

Lol great idea!

Graduation. That's my motivation.

Graduation... the end goal. I also find a game I want to play, show I want to watch or a small treat (can be either food or non-food, but is never super expensive) and I set small study goals I want to get to before I can do those things. It can be hard especially since I've gone about a year straight now with no real break to speak of because of the quarter system. If you cant take it anymore then go do something else, but make sure you come back to it.

Well, first off, I'd stop wasting my time cleaning! :D

Okay, maybe not totally, but if something has to give, that should be it. I had a meltdown this weekend because my house is dirty. Hubby said he is cleaning, but not going to worry about my standards, and I'd either have to deal with it or do it myself. I've always been a super clean control freak, but guess what? My house is dirty and I just don't care anymore. I am spending at least 12-14 hours per day either in class, driving to or from school, studying or getting prepped for the next day of class. I then must feed my family, make sure someone has taken care of the dog whose life depends on us and I am in charge of laundry and grocery shopping. Oh, and I need to go running so my brain doesn't fry. Beyond that, I can't do anything else and just don't want to anymore.

If you figure out the magic formula, let us all know. It sounds like we are all in the same boat.

I haven't tried taking an entire day off. I was trying to study every day so I wouldn't be stuck doing marathon days, but I'm thinking I'm screwing myself more than I'm helping. I think I'm going to try to take tomorrow off. We have "success camp" tomorrow, so at least it's sort of off time! Thanks so much ;)
