    Hi sweetmom,
I too will be starting NS in August. I asked the same question when I found out I was going, and I have found the best way to prepare is to study threads by all kinds of people, from all over the place here on allnurses.com. I have gained alot of information from here and check for new input on a daily basis. All schools will be different but the bottom line will be the same. Just forge ahead in your search and be blessed in your endeavours.

    Hello sweetmom,

I am currently in the 3rd level of practical nursing program at lcctc. Finish your math for meds homework prior to starting the program. I waited till it was actually due and believe me there is not enough time with everything that has to be done for A&P and the rest of the classes. The 1st level of the program is tough, but if you can stick it out the rest should fall into place. I graduate in august so i won't see you if you are attending lcctc, but goodluck and stick with it. siobhan mcmichael, spn

    Hi sweetmom,
I will be completing my first semester next week...:hatparty: . Anyway, the advice I would give to anyone starting a program would be to KEEP UP WITH YOUR READING!!! It may be hard to get ahead, but try to stay current. I don't mean read the whole chapter because some of the reading is ridiculous. Look at the key words of the chapter, charts, tables, bold headings, etc so you can have an idea of what is going on in lecture. That way when u read is throughly you can have a better understanding AND if there is a quiz you will be prepared. We had a lot of quizzes because people were not reading. Also, if you can get a couple of your textbooks start skimming through them, so that you can see what you are facing.

Enjoy your break though and don't think about it too much. You will miss these days come October.

Good luck to you . I am sure you are nervous an excited at the same time! I love school, even though it is a challenge. You can do it and welcome to the wild world of nursing!!!
