Help for the future

    You will learn a lot of what to prioritize based on where you land a job. You will also find your own routine and build on that.
    The one thing that drives me bonkers with new hires in the ED is that nurses are far too focused on typing on that computer to get all the charting done. STOP. Go lay hands and your stethoscope on that patient. Do an assessment and ask the important questions as you go through your head-to-toe with the patient. If you can't remember everything, just write it down on a cheat sheet until you can get to the computer.

    As a general rule, always remember your ABCs and act accordingly.
