Geared up and ready to go!

it is a bit depressing to read some of the threads on here so i decided to share my excitement. this week i received my beautiful littman stethoscope - in plum of course! i was so excited...still am. i have bought my shoes, scrubs, pen light, scissors, and bp cuff. not to mention the little items. i am so pumped up and ready to go. most likely i am stupid for not having some fear, but i can find none. i feel somewhat like a kid in a candy shop. i can't wait to wear and use all my new items. i can't wait to impact the lives of those in need of a gentle touch. i can't wait to hold that certification in my hands. i am a 40 year old woman, had a successful career, and yet i still feel like this is one of the most important and satisfying life changes i have made. i know the next two years will deflate some of my enthusiasm, but today i am proud and as happy as a 2yo with my hand in the cookie jar.

*wine here's to all of the newbie's getting ready to start on this exciting journey. keep the joy!!

Specializes in med/surg, telemetry, IV therapy, mgmt.

I hope you have a wonderful orientation school experience. I love(d) my nursing career. The trick is keeping a positive outlook.

I think your excitement is great. You have to keep that frame of mind going and it will serve you well. I have finished Nursing 1, took Microbiology this summer, so I have 3 more semesters. I hear negative things at times from some of my class mates, such as people that failed, etc. etc. You have to keep your eyes on the prize and not let the other things bring you down. I think you have the right idea and I wish you the best of luck!! :yeah:

I'm with you 100%!! I'm so excited and can not wait for school to start!! I just bought my shoes, a stethoscope ID tag and a watch yesterday. I have a Littmann too and I've been told that they have a tendency to grow legs so make sure you have some sort of identification on yours!! Good luck to you and all of the other newbies on here!! It's going to be a great year!!:w00t:

I remember being so excited to be able to wear my scrubs and use my stethoscope...I still am!!! For me, the excitement never went away...even still!!! I'm going into my 2nd semester on the 25th of this month...I'm really excited to get started again!

Best of luck to everyone starting their first semester!

*wine Here's to you Icaria from a fellow new student.

Good luck to you and to everyone for the new semester!

Congrats on the start of a whole new world. Keep the positive outlook!

I love and share your excitment!! Im ready to get back into the swing of things. This is my second year and I am really excited knowing that in two semesters I will be graduating!!!!

Specializes in M/S.

Congrats to the new students. Keep up the positive attitudes and don't let anything get in your way. There may be bumps in the road and you may feel like it will never end but there is light at the end of the tunnel. I wish all of you the best. It will pay off in the end. Just remember there is no I in teamwork.

I'm right there with you! I can not wait until class starts! I'm so excited! This is the adventure we've been waiting for! Good luck!

:hpygrp:

Yay, Icaria...I hope I'm going to school with you! I too, revel in all the dorky things about starting school and look at all the new equipment! This is SO much better than just new pens (fine point for the Type A a/r, by the way--why are good ones so hard to find?)

I'm ready for the career change, too.

Best of luck to all of you (dorks and normals!) :yeah:
