I gave my first injection. It was a Sub-Q lovenox injection. It was pretty neat. Not as hard a I thought. It helped that my instructor was talking to the guy while I gave it.

:p I just gave my first injection (Fragmin) about a month ago too. I know how you feel! I was so excited to put the first time jitters of injections behind me. Now I volunteer everytime I get the chance and am thrilled (rather than scared) to get more experience doing it. Gave my first ID today at a prison health clinic, that was fun too :p

What is ID???? Good job on the injections!

Wow, what semester are you in? It seems unlikely that one would make it past the first semester without giving an injection, but I've never heard of a first semester student hanging IVs.

I am in my second semester of our Upper Division BSN program. We were supposed to give flu shots last semester, but, of course, the flu vaccine was short in our area. I gave an IM on Christmas Day at my home, but this is the first in a clinical environment for both SQ and IM. But, yes, hung fluids this week in clinicals. Hope to begin an IV either this week or next.

Ah, okay! Yes, come to think of it, outside the flu clinic we did, many of us haven't had a chance to give too many injections. You just don't see a WHOLE lot of injectible daily meds in the course of one's clinicals unless the pt. has IDDM.

We just checked off on IVs last week, so I'm also waiting anxiously for my first IV start. We're not allowed to hang any IV meds except maintenance solutions, though, until 3rd semester.
