i am starting all over on august 25th. i was in a bsn nursing program last fall, and failed fundamentals by 10 points. i have been really bummed out since then. i could have went back to that school, but i thought it would be better to start some where else because i really didn't like it there any way. so, i applied at another school and got in. it is a associate degree program. i think i am going to really like it there. i am just really scared. fundamentals was a hard class for me. i just had a hard time dealing with the type of testing. i have bought several nursing books that i have been using this summer to help me understand the way the nursing tests are. i have been a medical assistant for 6 years, and i use critical thinking every day but i just can't seem to put in on paper. well anyway, here recently my boy friend's cancer has came back. he is doing okay with chemo, but i am so worried about him and school. i promised him if he would do chemo, i would go to school. so i am keeping my promise. i just need alot of strength and help to do that. i love this site and visit it all the time. i am going to rely on every one here for help. i just hope i pass this time. it is my dream to be a nurse. i love caring for patients. if anyone has any suggestions on the way nursing tests are please let me know. thanks for listening.:wink2:

Wow I'm sorry you didn't make it your first try but the fact that you are so determined to succeed in Nursing school and be a Nurse is wonderful to hear.
I wish you all the best of luck. I start NS this Aug, as well so I can't give you any advice on testing yet, but hopefully at a new school the enviornment will be better and you will reach your goal.

see the posts and links on https://allnurses.com/forums/f50/looking-test-taking-stratagies-224581.html - looking for test taking strategies. if one of the books you bought was saunders comprehensive review for the nclex-rn examination by linda anne silvestri, read the test strategy in chapter 5 (or get someone to xerox it for you--its only a few pages long)

You are wise in studying HOW to take the nursing test. They are not your average test and people coming into the program with 4.0 GPAs usally get the shock of their lives. Fundamentals was the toughest for me also. Looking back, I know now that I put too much into the questions. I think it has to do with having 6 yrs experience of working in the ER. Maybe I would have been better off NOT having that knowledge ,because the real world and the book world confused me. Old habits die hard... But, you will do fine, because its obviously something you want badly. We started with 82 people and after Fundamentals was down too 45. You will do fine, at least you know what to expect now. Good Luck! And remember, do not put too much into the questions, just answer what they want to hear and NEVER ASSUME ANYTHING. LOL...
