entry MSN- got in- anyone in one?

  1. Hi!!!
I'm very excited, as I just found out I got into a direct entry MSN over here in California, yay!!!

Is anyone out there in one of these programs? I'd love to get a hold of someone in one of these programs, or who has gone through it!!!

I considered applying to direct-entry MSN programs, but decided against it for a number of reasons. I'm sure there are some members lurking around here that chose that track, though.

    Congratulations, and good luck!

we should start an entry MSN thread so we can all jump in and talk about what we're going through... anyone interested? I think it'd be kinda neat to have a place where we could post/read?

Congrats! :hatparty: I got in at Johns Hopkins and U. San Diego. Yes, it would be cool to have a forum for direct entry BSN to MSNs.

hey, i'm in a an accelerated degree program right now (i have bachelor's degree in another field and i'm going for my bsn) and i never really seriously thought about doing one of these direct entry entry programs, although now i am...a little too late. i'm frustrated in my program because there's a general attitude among my profs of "you don't have to know the physiology behind why this works, because i don't know it, and you'll never have to." i'm thinking about pulling out of my program and going into a direct entry msn program, but i'd be putting myself into even more debt. i guess my plan is to work for a hospital that will pay for my continuing education but i think i'd like to start a family at some point and it would probably be better to have all my schooling done before i get married or have children. any opinions?

I think you might be a little confused. These direct entry programs all include a MEPN year where you have to get the RN first. Then the next 2 years are for the masters portion. What program and school are you in right now? Don't pull out. Get the RN first. Then you can work as an RN and go to school part time; there are programs where the hospital will pay for your tuition if you do that.

    Congrats Smile123!
So where will you go? I also got in at Hopkins and USD. Did we meet at USD? I also just found out today I got in at UCSF, : )

Kind of tough not knowing about financial aid yet, but a cool problem to have..
