Our students are asking to be pinned dispite the fact that they haven't passed their hesi yet. They say its not fair since they worked hard all year..but those of us who have passed think that its a priviledge to those who have met the mark.

My school doesn't do 'HESI.' We do have a 100% nlclex pass rate for the last 3 years, though. So no, this is not a problem @ my school.

My school also don't do the HESI. We have to take NLN tests at the end of each semester just for our own benefit to see what areas we need to work on for the NCLEX. The nursing school also uses this information to see what areas they need to improve in for later classes. If we pass our classes, we graduate and go through "pinning."

There are 2 whopping words misspelled above. Hardly enough for somebody to feel a need to post strictly about it. It's in the first post. Maybe I missed a word but I counted 2. I figure it's not worth pointing out unless somebody writes a post that is barely able to be read. I'm not sure why the poster would call the OP on it.

And as far as pinning...as far as I know my school does not do this.

Yep. The students have worked hard to get to this point and have passed their classes. They have to pass the HESI before their transcripts are released, but the school has remediation that is offered (and in some cases required) to help them pass.

I would be sad to see my classmates miss pinning just because of a test. Some don't test well and it seems unfair to penalize them. Just my :twocents:

I'm guessing you passed your HESI? Congratulations :). It's nice to have that step done, isn't it?

I don't see anything wrong with it. There are even schools who allow seniors to walk across the stage in May, at graduation ceremonies, if they are going to be completing their studies during the summer months.

My school doesn't have HESI...THANK GOD! I agree with HESI being used as an evaluation tool to find a program's weak points...but to use it as a determination for graduating?

Nope...that is what the NCLEX is for.

If a school is having issues with it's pass rate, it needs to take a good hard look at how it conducts the program and the instructors, because the students can only be blamed for so much.

WHY do some people seem so interested in keeping others down? Do you and your hesi-passing classmates really think you're that much better than the other students who have completed the program? :icon_roll

Okay, I am new, and someone please tell me what HESI stands for??

Thanks,

Typos are no problem with me btw.

:) I think people should just lighten up and not take life so seriously, huh??

Love to all, God Bless,

Deb;)
