do your teachers make u sign in for class?

one of my instructors makes us sign in at the begining and sign out at the end of class..i think its kinda weird... i mean we are all paying to be there, who ever doesnt show up its their loss right?

We had to sign in at the start of class, after returning from our first break, and after returning from lunch. It was policy that if a student missed so many hours of class time that they could technically be removed from the program.

i was gonna say its like standing orders lol, but its stated in the syllabi...if u miss x amount of class u get das boot...and the teachers DO notice when someones missing..

We have to sign into class in the morning, after lunch, into the lab, into any additional content reviews/activities, etc. They have strict policies on missing class, yet some people still don't get it!

Some teachers do; some teachers don't. Depends on the attendance policies in each syllabus.

What's funny is how ANAL nursing school is--big trouble for missing class, dress codes applied to lecture times, etc. I get the policy for clinical, but for lecture??? I had a discussion with a professor about it, and her POV was that it's because nursing is so rooted in tradition.

My first bachelor's was in English, and I had one professor with dreads, sweatpants/sweatshirt, and bare feet. All the time. He always smelled like marijuana. You don't get less anal than that, so this was a bit of culture shock for me.

i think so too...we just have to sign to show that we were present but thats it...its a requirement of the government.

We sign in hourly for lectures. No kidding. A sign-in sheet is literally passed around the room every hour.

Clinicals, so far, we sign in just at the beginning because it's a much smaller and controlled group and corralled in a smaller room. The door hinges squeak and there is only one way in and out, too. >;-D

Apparently the school has had a problem with people who sign in at lecture, then skip out at a break. Plus they have a lot of nontraditional students who are receiving some sort of government tuition aid, and apparently there is a vast amount of reporting that the school has to do to the government, above and beyond documenting that the student has enough seat time in lecture to be NCLEX-eligible. Those seats they have for lecture are not real comfortable, so I can see why people really want to get out of them and go someplace else, lol. :D (The Devil made me say that.)

Nope. Instructors did a mental check every time class started. Benefit of small classes. Or downside if you want to ditch.

I am not in NS yet,but every class has a sign in requirement at my school that I know of. While the teachers don't give two hoots if you are there or not the school and the government does. They will drop you from the class if you don't show up for the first couple of weeks, but I am not sure what finatal aid does to you if you miss a certain percentage of class.

I just give assignments that aren't accepted any other time except class; and you get lab or homework points for them. Part of your grade.
