College Nursing Programs without wait list?

hi all, i am new on this site and would like some fellow student advice. i am curious to know if there are any states out there that do not have an insanely long wait list for the nursing (rn) program for an a.s. degree. as far as i know nevada and washington use a point system, which might be quicker to get into. i am willing to move where there is a program that i can get into, since i have finished all of my pre/co-req's and do not want to sit on a wait list for two more years. what are some of your experiences getting in and any advice would really help.

thanks a ton!

Hi,

I live in Nevada and will be attending nursing school out here. If you have all your prereq's done there are a few schools you can look into out here, some will even get you a BSN at the end. Here's a run down:

Community College of Southern Nevada (CCSN) - $ - public, ASN, point system, very competitive. 2 years to complete. Fall and Spring entry.

University of Las Vegas (UNLV) - $$ - public, BSN, point system (I think, don't quote me on this though because they recently changed alot of stuff), very competitive. Can complete in 16months. Fall, Spring, & Summer entry.

Nevada State College (NSC) - $$- public, BSN, point system, very competitive. Accelerated program 12 months, Regular 16-24 months. Fall & Spring entry.

Touro University - $$$- private, ELM, BSN, application, references, etc., new program so not as competitive. Time to complete depends on which degree. Summer entry. Still accepting applications.

University of Southern Nevada - $$$- private, BSN, application, new program so not so competitive. 18 months to complete. Fall entry. Still accepting applications until May 1.

Apollo College - $$$- private, ASN. don't have much info on this one.

I've applied to Touro and NSC. I've been accepted at Touro. If you have any questions let me know. Or you can post on the Nevada forum there are a few of us who are going to different schools there.

i live in las vegas now, and have applied to the fall program at ccsn. the amount of applicants is way over 200 and as far as i know only 120 seats available. if money was not such an issue i would consider nsc or unlv. just found out about touro today. how far is that from lv?

it's in henderson. really expensive though. $7000 per semester, 3 semesters every year and you have to go 4 semesters to get your bsn. ouch! that's why they are my back up plan. i have applied to both the accelerated and regular bsn programs at nsc and hope i get in there. if not i've already been accepted at touro. i guess when you look at it in terms of lost income if i wait til spring it's all equal.

Well if you like the cold NCCC in Western NY (Buffalo, Niagara Falls area) has a great program, usually there is no wait. High NCLEX pass rate.

Thank you all for your input!

Hey, Chicago and the surrounding area has a lot of nursing program. I just move here from California so I know what you mean and feel about the waiting list. I will be going to nursing school in August (I got accepted here in chicago). There are many schools here that has nursing program.

If you need any more information or interest about going to school in Chicago, you can send me a private message.
