Nursing Students General Students

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to get a thread started for all of the BHC/MVC students; please help me get a support system going here. I am starting at BHC in Jan. 07 and would love to make contact with the other new students. It would also be great if the current students would join in too, maybe share some advise;) /horror stories.:uhoh21: I'm sure that you current students have a lot to say.

El Centro/Northlake has a couple of really good threads going, but it would sure be great to talk with those I will be going to school with too.

Good Luck to everyone!

Hello all,

I used to read this thread when ever I had time. I just graduated from BHC nursing program. Second year students - hold on tight. You will be out in no time. Enjoy your break. You'll need it.

Is there any newbies here (Spring 08)? I have the Nursing kit - both first and second year together and some books.

Happy holidays!

I am starting in Spring 08. What books are you willing to part with? I haven't bought mine yet.

And how much for the nursing kit?

you are becoming part of a wonderful family! i have found that not only do the bh nursing students bond, but we bond with our instructors as well. what a great bunch of people!

have you had your success camp yet? if not, have you found any of the other new students?

if you have any questions or need anything feel free to ask on this thread or private message.

take a deep breath and enjoy your journey!

i had success camp a few weeks ago. i met one girl on this website in my class, but i didn't know anyone else there.

i appreciate it! i am sure i will have some questions as soon as we start on the 14th. right now i am trying to relax and enjoy my time off.

we start back on the 14th too. we will be in lecture from 9-1 (i think thats right). what is your schedule going to be like?

let everyone know in your class about allnurses; as you can see, it is a great tool.

i saw all the chat about our wonderful white scrubs...i, like susan (aka; buttercup fields) bought three pairs because of the three day in a row thing. with that being said, i am willing to part with a pair or two of the pants. if you or anyone else is interrested private email me. they are landau 2x, elastic with drawstring, double pocket on both legs. the pockets are so awesome. they are in super condition, i just won't need three pair anymore and thought it could save someone some money...i'm willing to make a deal!

also let me know if ya'll need a book for skills lab call "stat". it's a workbook that we used, but i made copies instead of tearing out the pages. they were talking about retiring it so you may not need it.

spread the word.

my schedule is kind of weird...i am supposed to have clinical on tuesdays (medical city), but we have pre-clinical on mondays and tuesdays for the first 7 weeks. i have lecture on wednesdays and thursdays 9-11:30am. my skills lab is on thursdays at 12:30 i think.

i am not sure if we are using that work book, but i will find out soon i'm sure.

i haven't even bought my scrubs yet. i should probably get on that.

thanks for all of the info!

First semester students. Uniform World is having a sale if you still need to get scrub pants. Three locations Plano 15th and Independence, Walnut Hill ( between 75 and Greenville) and one on Gaston near Baylor.

I got my scrub pants at Uniform World and if they do not have your size they will order it and you still get the sale price. Shoes and other Accessories are also on sale.

Have a great day.

Yay! I can officially post here, now :)

I can't believe school starts next week! I have been waiting what seems like forever to start the nursing program and finally I'll know what's it's all about. I feel like I'm ready to jump right it, but I know that there will be a lot of difficult moments along the way. Any advice for a 1st semester student? Success camp was pretty detailed...gotta love Mrs. Routh and her honesty about the program.

Welcome 1st semester students! Yeah, you gotta love Mrs Routh. :)

I think in success camp part of the purpose is to try to scare you, honestly. While I wouldn't underestimate the amount of work, reading, and time involved, it is quite doable if you apply yourself. They told us in success camp we would be spending 6-8 hours the day before clinical preparing, but it wasn't quite that much. ;) Also if you ever have questions or need advice from someone who was there not long ago, we are all here.

Hope you all have as much fun as we're having. It really will go by before you know it.
