Any tips on writing the essay on "why I want to be a nurse"? I don't want to come off as too sappy!

Any idea of what admissions to RN program would be "looking for" in a possible candidate?

Thanks!:typing

just be honest, and direct....don't worry about being too sappy(after all, if you don't have emotion, why would they want you?)

Yes. Tell them why you want to be a nurse. Nothing else. Just answer the question asked.

Hi i need help deciding on what i need to take to get into nursing. i dont want to take classes i dont need. what are the main exact classes i need to take in order to get into nursing. I really coudlnt handle blood and guts but my passion is helping and being with people in the medical field. I am really struggling on if i shud get into this or not? can someone please help me figure out what i need to do?..is it worth it..will i get over it?

I would recommend that you write it and show it to two or three people whose judgement you trust for honest feedback. Although critiques can sometimes 'sting' a little, it's a very, very good way to improve your writing and come to understand how it is perceived by others. Great way to 'discover' your blindspots!

I'm sorry you guys, I am just freaking out because I don't even know where to start! I don't have ANY experience in nursing (several students I know already work in the medical field) and all I really have is the drive to help people. I have dealt with Hospice care for 2 family members and I actually moved in to one of the people's homes to care for them while they were dying (cancer). I already have a degree in psychology but instead of going to get a masters/PhD I have decided to do nursing. I don't know what to say other than that, and I don't think they'd let me in based on that. AAGH!

Also, I need 2 "professional" references and I really don't know who to ask since I can't tell my current work place that I am going to apply.

You can use teachers at school as refrences. I used my career counselor and my math teacher.
