Anyone else obsessed with school?

Is it just me or is anyone else obsessed with school? I am losing interest in about everything else!

I guess it started before I thought about returning to school 2 years ago, I was tired of volunteer work and committees....Now I find that I am even losing interest in my friends....I feel a lot of them just don't understand.

I am not depressed, I am very happy with my life..I would just rather spend time with my books than having lunch with friends. I wondered if this might be a good thing...if I had a lot of other interests I would not have the time to focus on classes.

I am 44 years old and I feel like a kid before Christmas waiting for my Nursing books to arrive on Thursday!! Am I the only obsessed person out there? Did anyone else discover that their interest in friends and other interests changed as they went through school? Does anyone else feel the world is bored with hearing us talk about our classes?

I'm in agreement with all of you...I'm not "obsessed" with school, but since my summer class ended last Thursday, I've been sort of "lost" without having to study. I think for me its a case of just "ME" time...while I'm studying, I'm not fulfilling someone else's requirements, such as wife, mother, employee, etc. I'm just working toward MY goal of being a nurse. Its great to finally be able to concentrate on something for myself.

I'm still working full time, so I have my friends there, but I'm also meeting lots of new friends in my classes. Its really wonderful to be "expanding my horizons" and find out that all my brain cells haven't died off yet, in fact, I'm adding new ones with all this knowledge I'm acquiring...I love learning new things, and my confidence and self-esteem are probably at an all time high right now (the 4.0 GPA doesn't hurt, either!)

ME ME ME!!! I can't wait for school to start. I have put my student nursing uniform on twice now, just because I think i look fabulous in it! LOL. I am looking forward to getteing my books as well. Love school so much!

You guys are so cute! Your enthusiasm is refreshing! I love it when the students coming onto the floor are as excited as some of you!

Welcome! And don't forget to leave time for other things! (like yourselves!) ;)

I wish my books would come in...I wish the syllabi were available...does that count? :)

I feel like I have found my niche. I really had no hobbies other than my three children, and my husband was always golfing, fishing, computers, building things, whatever. And now that I returned to school after a looong time, I absolutely love it! I feel as if I am finally doing something I really want to do. So guess I am obsesed too!

I'm right with you there !

OMG, this summer I designated myself as the "ice" person for my sons baseball games.. if someone got hurt.. the "ice" queen to the rescue..lol.. Guess I can't do too much harm with ICE..lol. Actually the ice came in handy for the 90+ degree heat too.

I bought all my books online and I have been reading a little almost every day between refilling somebody's sippy cup, and getting him some goldfish, and changing his diaper, and picking up crushed goldfish and tickling him on the floor until he pukes up all those goldfish!

Can't wait for school to start so I can get away from all the goldfish for a few hours.

I am so NOT obsessed with nursing school! I was the first time around (PN school):D I guess I have lots on my plate this time and that may be why I'm not. Maybe it is because I KNOW I'll be forced to give up the remote control now:eek:

Ahh well. I already have high blood pressure lately so I don't think my little heart could take the excitement anyway!:chuckle

I have had my books for the fall for about a month now. I took two different 5 week summer courses so I am studying much of the time. If I am not studying I am watching the shows on the discovery health channel so I can learn more about diseases and the jobs nurses do. I even had an instructor tell me I overstudy! I think I confuse people sometimes too. I can't settle for knowing just the basic stuff to pass tests. I have to look deeper into it and find out more. I can't wait to start the actual nursing classes so i can be on the floor and have clinical training as well as book knowledge.

I'm the same way. I dig a bit deeper than most always asking why "X" is true, not just willing to accept it as fact. S'okay, you're just a fellow knowledge freak. My goal in life is to stuff as much in my brain as possible. Although I admit I'm not the D-Health freak you are but I was close in the last month before starting vet tech school There was a show with this dorky vet I used to watch rabidly! I wish they'd had "Emergency Vets" on back then. Nowadays I occasionally kick "Emergency Vets" on but, I do 99% of what they show so, its too much like work. ;)

Yea!!!!!!!!! I am not the only one!!!! My friend and co-workers laugh at me all the time. I am so obsessed with school. I LOVE school.( wow I admitted it ) I am having so much fun. I have even e-mailed my professors for fall asking for the syll. I have allready scammed all my friends notes for A&P and started making note cards to study. I was so excited to buy school supplys I went a little crazy.... got way to many spiral notebooks.......hehe oh well , just another addiction to add to the walmart one :-) I never did well in high school and now that I have a 4.0 in collage it really makes me excited to learn. Guess its all in my head... but thats ok I LOVE SCHOOL ( well at least till finals) :-)

I'm glad there are other nursing students as enthusiastic as I am. I took a summer class for 5 weeks and have to wait until Aug.19 to start my 2nd year nursing classes, I can't wait, I really have missed school. I'm 45 years old and returned to school after having graduated from high school in 1975, most of the rest of my class weren't even born then.LOL.:-) I love reading my books and subscribe to several nursing magazines.

Hi Doodle, it's nice to know there are other non-traditional students out there ! Good Luck in your 2nd year of nursing.
