Hi,

I will be going into my sec. sem. of a 4 sem adn program. If I finished this spring I will be half way finished. The thing is I have so much anxiety about it. I did good in my first sem. b-c range on all tests and worked 20 hours a week. I am cutting my hours this sem. I know I probably shouln't worry but I am just so anxious b/c I want to be a R.N. so much. We are going to get checked off on hanging I.V. and IV piggyback the first week of classes. I keeping thinking what if I don't get that wrong. I am looking to purchase some reveiw materials b/c I really want to do good this sem. I am taking Med Surg II and Mental Health along w/Pharm. which is online. Does anyone feel the way I do.

Thanks for letting me vent and ramble.

I am a little worried, too, b/c the teacher we have for 2nd semester is supposed to be very hard. She used to be the first sem. teacher, and one semester 17 out of 36 people dropped or failed out. Yikes!Oh well--we'll see...

I am getting more and more nervous each day. I have no clue how I will do all the reading. I don't think I ever did all the required reading for any class ever.

PS - I think feeling like this is normal and we will all do fine :)

I heard that the second semester is more concrete than the first so I think we'll be fine. As long as they teach us how to hang the IVs then we'll be okay. Look at the bright side, 1 semester down, ONLY three more to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just try to relax and take one day at a time. Remember that you are learning and that no one is going to expect you to be perfect. Just ask questions and practice. Good luck to you!

stay positive i am sure you do just fine :)

I'm nervous as well - it'll be semester 3/5 for me in my BSN program, and everyone says this is the hardest one.. OB, Peds, psych, Med Surg II, cultural competency AND a leadership/management. :o

Just take it one day at a time! Good luck! :)

In my first semester, I heard horror stories about second semester that made me dread the transition. My experience was far different from all the scary reports. The clinical instructors were not unreasonable in their expectations. If anything, they told us to relax and if we didn't get it right the first time, there would be other chances. There's really not much trouble you can get into if you're not doing IV push drugs and your clinical instructor is supervising you closely. On the bright side too, you may be released from the chore of the bed bath and linen changes.

I found second semester was easier than first because as someone put it earlier, it was more concrete. We focused on assessment, documentation and pathophysiology in med/surg. In OB, assisting in deliveries was as natural as peanut butter.

Get ready to begin feeling like a nurse. Stay positive. Good luck everyone.

Manna, that's a lot for one semester! Got your running shoes?:)

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one with the jitters! LOL

I'm happy with my clinical instructor for this coming semester - she was my lecture for Fundamentals last semester, and I liked her. She's a no-nonsense kind of person, but I think I'll learn a lot.

The biggest thing scaring me is 2 days of clinicals a week, and not being able to miss any (well, one, but it has to be made up). Being diabetic, I have a hard time staying healthy all winter long, and hope this isn't the year I come down with some strain of flu not covered by the flu shot. I've already had quite a few migraines while on vacation. :o

I will say I am looking forward to "getting back" to studying and a routine again. Dare I say (while running away!) that over a month for vacation is too long???

I will also be going into semester 2/4. I am nervous too the thing that worries me is micro! I have it with psyc & ob. My classes are really spread out I have a 4 hour space between classes. I guess this will be study or lab time for the next 16 wks. Good luck to everybody!
