I need to take Anatomy and Physiology class for summer but the only available class for it is an online class http://www.rio.maricopa.edu/ci/syllabus/current/BIO/BIO201/ . Should I take this one? Has anyone here have taken thas class online? Is it easier online? Haven't taken any online classes so I just wanted to get some feedbacks on getting some online classes. thx alot

I have taken A & P I and II online, not at the school in question. I felt like it was almost too easy. I have to attend a lab once a week so there is some on campus attendance required at least for me. As a matter of fact Im leaving right now for my lab final. Good luck I think you will find it's a easy A...

The students who have taken A&P online at our school have had the opposite experience. They have not done well. A&P is a tough course. I got A's but it was work. The previous poster calls it "an easy "A". That's the first time I've heard A&P characterized that way in any form. Be ready for a challenge.

I have just finished A&P I online, I found it at time to be challenging due to the fact that we were required to read 3-4 chapters at a time in a one week period plus we had online labs that were difficult at times also. I plan on taking A&P II this summer. The college I go thru is CCConline. I live in Japan and this is the only way I can start my prereqs! It has worked for me! :)

I'm taking Rio's A&PI online starting in July. I just finished Rio's Human Bio online (waiting for my final exam grade!) and it was challenging but not extremely hard (for me, but I'm one of those people who are blessed with the ability to get good grades without putting in a ton of studying). I've talked to other people who have taken the A&Ps and they've said there is a lot of memorization, but if you're good at that, the class should not be too difficult for you.

I looked at the syllabus, and it seems that they spend 1-2 weeks on each system, so it doesn't sound like it's extremely overwhelming.

Hi,

Th ease or difficulty of distance learning is a subjective thing. It depends a lot on how comfortable you are with learning on your own and whether you're discipline enough to make yourself sit, study, make notes, and do reviews without the luxury of weekly face to face classes.

I've done a few on-line classes and my experiences with them are mixed. The A&P II class wasn't bad because the instructor was a web junkie who was always online and I could e-mail or message her at anytime and get a quick response to my questions whenever I got stuck. Pharmacology was an entirely different matter because that instructor couldn't care any less whether we understood the material or not. Just keep up with the reading and you should do just fine.

I have taken many online classes, but none have been science ones. I am taking A&P 1 online this summer through Edukan. It's a short course - only 6 weeks - but I figure even if I can't get the credits transferred, I've had a relatively "cheap" intro to it. It was cheaper online through a school in Kansas as an out-of-state student than at the CC in-state where I'm a resident. Go figure.

The midterm and final is always a proctored exam - NOT take-home or open book.

Quizzes are open book, but they often give you a time limit so there really isn't a lot of time to look stuff up if you don't know it.

I have all online classes this year, and NO THEY ARE TWICE AS HARD (although none are from this college). The work load is greater than just attending class. My opinion is IF YOU CAN, go to class. If you can't make it due to your schedule (like me) then take it online. Hope this isnt too discouraging- brandy

I am taking A & P I online this fall, but I do have in class labs for over an hour twice a week. If it would have been an option I would have taken it all in the class room. Unfortunately that didn't work out with my class load.

Online courses vary so much between institutions and instructors. My anthropology class last fall was online and it was great, but I took a Humanities course this spring (before switching my major) and it's been a nightmare. IMHO you do have a larger work load when taking an online course, but they are flexible. If you are the type of person that put's things off to the last minute you are better off not taking an online course, especially one that is detail oriented.

Good luck!
