AandP during the summer..

Nursing Students General Students

Hi guys.. I'm stressing here. I'll be taking A and P I during the first summer term this year. I'm rather anxious about cramming a full semester length course into four short weeks. I have to have a high grade in this class, as it is the only pre-req I need for the nursing program. I know this class is going to be tough, as I'm certain the instructor intends to "weed out" students. Several people on campus have already told me he is the toughest teacher there.:uhoh21: I've already started to study everything I can find. We can't actually register for the class until the day before it starts, and so I've not got the textbook he'll be using either. I've downloaded another A and P textbook online and I have taken a ton of notes on it. I have over 100 notecards on the first chapter alone.

Has anyone else taken this class in such a short period of time? Any suggestions?

Sure have. Although I took it during the spring, it was an "intense" session - we took A&P I & II in the same semester (4 weeks for each).

I don't have any major advice other than be sure you don't fall behind - but sounds like you're already ahead of the game. If you have any questions, come back and post them here - there are lots of us who I'm sure are willing to help...

and, Good luck! :)

I took A&P I in 9 weeks during the summer. Plus I work full time. I got a 100% in the class.

Don't ever let yourself fall behind, and study every chance you get. Taking it in 9 weeks wasn't easy, I was constantly studying for those 9 weeks, but I am glad that I got it done and over with in a short period of time.

Oh yeah - I forgot to mention I worked full-time while I took the above mentioned courses too (plus I have two little kids). So it is doable. My philosophy pretty much is - I'd rather work hard for a short period of time (on an intensive/short-term class) and be done with it than drag it out all semester. :)

I took A & P 2 in a 5 week summer session last year and the most important thing is to go to class everyday and not get behind! I was also working full time and got very little sleep (I must have looked really bad cause the prof pulled me aside a few times to make sure I was feeling and doing all right) but I got an A in the class. It can be done, just keep reminding yourself that it's not forever.

i agree with manna. most of the classes i take are in a 4-5 week format and i'll be taking a&p this summer in a 6 week format.

sounds as if you are ahead of the game; stay there. that is what i am doing. i borrowed a&p and micro books from my sister-in-law back in feb and i'm almost done with both, as far as taking notes, reading chapters, even answering chapter questions. at this point, i could probably clep them if there was a clep available!

you can do it!

I'm taking A&P 1 online this summer in a 6 week format also. I'm excited because it will be the ONLY course I take at that time, plus it starts the beginning of May, and I'll be done before my 4 kids get out of school at the end of June. That works out well, so I won't be trying to studying AND entertaining those saying "I'm bored!" all the time! :chuckle

I registered for a 7 week A&P course yesterday.

Let's see if my wife lets me go.

Just wanted to add that I am taking A&P I this summer too! So you all are not alone in your journey! Are there any good A&P study guides out there??

I'm enrolled in A&P and Chemistry this summer, sounds like a fun summer doesn't it!! I'd like some advice on study guides too..thanks!

Good luck with both of those sciences! Yuck! I'm actually looking forward to my summer classes... water aerobics and weight training. :)
