A very sad day for me.

Last night I got a call that one of my dear friends from church was being called to active duty and shipping on Thursday. This morning I went to church to witness his baptism and taking of the eucharist.

This is the second person that I know this is happening to. The first was from my nursing class and God only knows where he was shipped to. His family doesn't even know.

While in church I came to the realization that by going to nursing school, it is where I am supposed to be in life right now. The things that I am learning and will carry forward are things that the world needs right now.

As nurses, we have the history of always being there for the soldiers, and other people of the world. To heal both physically and spiritually the wounds that life has given to them.

I just want to say to all of you....thank you. Your job is a tough one, but also rewarded by the looks in those people's eyes that you have helped.

Thank you.

Love the smiley mkue! It's too bad that there wasn't some way to start an email penpal thing with some of these people that are going. I for one would be more than happy to email someone that is in the military and away from home.

If you are interested in e-mailing...the news station here in San Diego has started a program called "Help from The Homefront". They will e-mail your message out to one of the San Diego based ships currently deployed. I have heard of several pen-pal relationships starting up that way. If you are interested go to http://www.nbcsandiego.com and click on the "Help From the Homefront" icon.

Thanks again for your support! Btw...I forward all the messages on this thread to my DH...he and the guys were excited about the positive support!

All the best,

Christine

Thanks usa987. I'll pm you with my email addy and if any of the guys want to write, I'd be more than happy to write back!

My son is at tech school for the airforce right now. I am very worried about what will happen when he gets out. He will be 19 the end of this month, so young, as many of our military members are.

My prayers are with all.

You are all very welcome. I think that along with the other stressors in life, talking about what is going on with our loved ones is very important.

May they be safe and all come home soon!

I wrote to the email addy above and got a response. Of course they couldn't tell me anything about what ship they were on or anything but that's ok. It was a nice feeling to let them know that I support them and now they know it!

I'm so glad you are getting a response Essarge!!!!

I e-mailed my friend who is out in the "Big Blue" right now and hopefully you will be getting something from someone on his ship too!

Have a great day all!

Great! Thanks! I'll look forward to hearing from them!

Thank you all for your kind words. From an Army wife, with a husband on his way overseas, this touched me! I pray for all of our soldiers daily!
