Would this hurt me getting a job?

Hi, I'm a new grad who finally landed a first job interview after a long job hunting.

I'm really excited because the hospital I've got the interview with is where I wanted to work

but I have an experience of volunteering here a few years ago and I didn't fulfill the required minimum time for volunteering.

The main reason I stopped volunteering was they never had anything for me to do and I didn't feel welcomed to volunteer cuz I always felt like I was in the way...

I was also in nursing program so I guess I stopped going after starting school...

I know I was very irresponsible for not committing enough hours as I promised and I'm scared that it would hurt me getting a job at this hospital...

They also had a question asking if I ever volunteered at their hospital on their online resume...so I'm really scared of what to say when they do ask me why I quit volunteering during the interview...

I hope they don't ask but if they do ask, what should I tell them? Should I just tell them how I felt during volunteering or should I just come up with some excuse...?

I am not 100% clear after reading your post, however, you seem to indicate that at least part of your reason for not continuing to volunteer had to do with being in nursing school. Many people cut back on their outside obligations during school so that would be an acceptable reason. Sometimes it is not necessary to give more information.

Just don't lie to a direct question- THAT could come back to bite you much more than not volunteering....if there was no signed agreement, or other implication of being unable to not volunteer, you should be good to go :)

Honesty! Anybody interviewing you knows how heavy nursing programs are. The answer is yes, you did volunteer. Unfortunately, due to your heavy course load, you were unable to fill your promised hours, but the time you did spend you valued and learned a lot from (or whatever other brown-nosing thing we say during interviews haha)

Be Honest! Yes, tell them you volunteered at the hospital before, and if they ask why you quit, simply say while I was in nursing school it was too hard for my to volunteer and go to school, so I quit. They can't look down on you for quitting because nursing school is such a huge time commitment. =) good luck on your interview I hope you get the job!!!
