Worst Interview......so far

So I just got home from what I would say, my worst interview ever! I want to cry, but I am not going to let myself, because I have an interview for my dream job coming up in 2 weeks:yeah:

This is about my 10th interview, and thankfully I do have a job working in a SNF, but I want out of the SNF and if I don't get the dream job, I want to be out of the SNF.

This was for a LTACH, the interview with the recruiter went great and today I had an interview with the DON, and well he pretty much looked at my resume and decided that he didn't want to hire me and made sure that I knew it.

He asked some basic interview questions and then started with a rapid fire on clinical questions, some I knew and a lot I had to say I am sorry, but I don't know:confused:, and he smilled and "Yeah I thought you didn't", "You dont have acute care experience, and I need acute care experience" The questions and they way he asked him, it was like he was trying to prove to me how little I knew

He said the best he could do was hang on to my app and I could call back in 2 weeks and he may want me to work on call, but he has to fill his full time positons first.

I walked away feeling very bewildered about the interview

I'm sorry. What a sadistic jerk! Good luck at your dream job interview though. :)

You wouldn't want to work with/for a person like that anyway! Once you find/get your dream job, you'll be soooo happy this jerk didn't offer you a job. ...then you'll be the one laughing. :D Keep your head up!

Good luck!

I'm so sorry someone else's bad day or just bad personality was taken out on you.

"You dont have acute care experience, and I need acute care experience"

What I would have been thinking: "Then why did you waste your time and my time by interviewing someone with no acute care experience?"

Never ceases to amaze me the time these people waste. They obviously knew they didn't want to hire you for the position and instead of just denying your application they waste your time. Quite frankly this guy is a D***. If he didn't think you were qualified that is one thing, but to belittle you is very unprofessional. I don't think I could work for someone like that.

I say just shake it off and get ready for the interview the job you really want.

I was thinking the same thing, I didn't lie about my experience, they knew that I had only worked in a SNF, and I am a new nurse.

I was done with the interview by 1430 and I already had a rejection email in my inbox by 1445, that okay because I have 2 weeks to prepare for my dream job interview a 6 month internship in a level 2 trauma center

I would have walked away bewildered.... and relieved! At least he showed you his true colors before you signed a contract! Then you still would have been wanting out and looking for a new job!

Good luck at your dream job interview!! :D

LoveMyBugs,

Hang in there! At least you are interviewing. I wonder how many people would love just to interview. Please keep sharing your job search experiences. I'm crossing my fingers for you. I hope you get your dream job.

Do you think it might be helpful to have learned why he did want to look at you, provided he read your resume prior to arranging your interview, and he knew that your experience was low in the area he was looking for?

Make sure once you have your dream job to send that manager a thank you letter for not hiring you. :)

You're so much nicer than me. I would have straight out looked at him and said, "Why am I here again?" then excused myself and left.

This dude was totally rude to you for no reason and probably is a nightmare to work for.

Don't forget you are interviewing your hiring manager as much as they are interviewing you. I would also have sent him an email withdrawing my application.
