Which Nursing Journal Do You Like??

Hi, I just graduated and passed boards and am looking for a nursing journal or two to subscribe to as I begin my new profession. Which journal(s) do you subscribe to or recommend?

Specializes in Med-Surg, Trauma, Ortho, Neuro, Cardiac.

I don't prescribe to "Journals" per se. When I think of Journals I think of acedemic journals that publish reserach.

I prefer light reading and subscribe to Nursing2006 and Nursing Made Incredibly Easy magazine. Right now several months are stacked up and I should read them, but I'm in school right now for my BSN and am too busy, and that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. :)

Oh okay, I thought they were all referred to as journals! So what journals or magazines does everyone subscribe to that they feel help them to stay up to date and involved with the profession?

It might be worth finding our from colleagues which ones they read or would like to read and then set up a journal club so that you subscribe to other ones and share and then you all get access to a lot more journals. The other thing you could do is look at the ones you can get access to on line first, and then see if they are the sort of thing you would like to read - before you part with your hard earned $$$

In the UK we have 'academic journals' (loads of different ones for different specialties) and 2 major weekly ones - Nursing Times and Nursing Standard. They both have online sites which are worth a look for their clinical content.

I love Nursing 2006. I tried the AJN and the one for emergency nursing (can't recall the name) but Nursing is the most interesting to me. I've subscribed to that since I was in nursing school.

Nursing 2006,7,8 etc. And Orthopaedic Nursing.

I love Nursing 2006 - have had a subscription for years. Its the only magazine I keep for a while (oh who am I kidding, I have issues going back to 1985 that I keep swearing I'll throw out, but haven't)

Here in Canada we get the Canadian Nurse included as part of our registration fee, but I've seen very few articles that give me that same ant of info I get from Nsg 2006.

It's only semantics. Some people do indeed call them journals and you're not wrong for calling them journals. I guess because I've done so much research this last year, I dont' consider them journals. :lol2:

Alright! Nursing 2006 is it! Thanks everyone, I appreciate it
