For those of you who have a second job, what is it and why did you choose it?

Per diem home care is my part time job. I chose it because I thought it would be easy to work around a full time flex schedule but it isn't. I'm at the mercy of my patients and their schedules.

I work PRN in a long-term care facility. Why? They pay more than my full-time (PDN) but I can't deal with that environment 5 days a week, so I use it strictly to supplement my income. That and this ridiculous idea I have that having recent experience on the floor will help me get an interview in the hospital.

I do seasonal work at a local theme park as my part time job. It gives me a break from using the nursing side of my brain, and while it has its own stress it's comparatively fun. (Plus it pays pretty well!)

Teaching.. It had hours that worked around my full time job. I am finding that I like this a lot more than my full time job..

My honey-do list precludes a 2nd job. 100 year old house, 100 year old problems. Except during ski season, then I'm a part time full time patroller.

I work PRN at a Pedi Home Health agency. I have been there 2.5 years now - great to work with - they never give me trouble about my schedule, I only work 2-3 days/month from Sept-May and tend to pick up more days during the summer months. This money is my travel money - the paycheck is deposited into a savings account that I only touch during vacations - I usually have a pretty good chunk of change to travel with.
