I work in peds and working with the families and children makes my day. Even if it is just sitting down and answering their question and making them comfortable, I feel as if I have made a difference and they truly appreciate it.

ER - love the adrenaline rush and knowing that I have to be on top of my game to work there. (Wish I still did).

Psychiatric nursing - There's never a dull moment. Also, there's a lack of physical bedside nursing involved.
Long-term care - I achieve a sense of fulfillment when I build ongoing relationships. It is easy to build relationships in LTC, because the elderly residents tend to live at the facility until they die.

ER/peds, I love the adrenaline rush and the having to be on your toes. I find that ER makes me have to keep up with current research and goings on. It keeps me sharp and is often mentally challenging, which I love. I also love teaching/educating both kids and their parents about their diagnoses. Don't get me wrong, it's often frustrating as well, but I love it.

Med/Surg....For me, I love the variety of experiences, the constant learning & applying, that there's never a dull moment, and that each & every day brings something new.

OB/nursery - I love helping families welcome new life into the world. Also, things can go bad on a dime and you have to be johnny-on-the-spot when it does. And the rare moment when I get to just sit and rock a baby to sleep is priceless.
Community - I love the variety of things, from the cradle to the grave. And I love doing education on health and wellness as well as disease processes.

ER-same reasons-think for yourself, think on your feet, never boring, a real challenge and a sense of pride.
