What's up with this???

I applied for a position over the weekend....HR called me on Tuesday morning (9ish) Re: my application and in her message to me, she told me what her office hours were and she asked that I call her back as soon as I am able to. So I called her back at 11am Tuesday, and left her a massage stating that I will be at this munmber therest of the day. She never called me back.

SO I called her again today at around 11am telling her in my message that I am at this number the rest of the day, and it is now 2, and I haven't heard form her.

I am worried that in my first message to her, that I may have said the wrong name in my greeting to her. I was so nervous and her name is similiar to my best friends, that I may have goofed. I don't THINK I did, but maybe. Would that be a reason for her to not call me back???? And in my message to her today, I KNOW I greeted her machine with HER name.

Are you sure you have the correct number? Did you identify yourself as the person who applied over the weekend. Find out what her name is exactly by calling the main number. If no answer the third time, write a short descriptive letter. Perhaps her voice mail box isn't functioning correctly.

I did have the right number becausse she was on the VM greeting. And I did identify myself by stating my name, the position that I applied for, and that I was returning her call........:o

Perhaps she's out of the office due to illness or family emergency. Is there any way you could find out if she's actually in?

EWWWWWWWWW...I hate that feeling. I know exactly where you are coming from. Unfortunately I don't have any advice better than what has been provided by others.

I have to share this incredibly embarrassing story. I have a few people programmed on my cell with voice dial. One of those individuals I have a set of bad words I say to dial their number. So one day I returned a phone call to a prospective employee and while leaving a message I hear those bad words in the background and am like oh...***...and I go into a silent panic because I figure she would hear the bad words and think I'm calling her those bad words. :doh: Nonetheless, with my silence and fumbling around to do damage control, my message must have been a very unique listen. :uhoh21: In the end, I don't think the voice dial words came through in the voice mail I left the employer because I got a return call; although she did leave me hanging, squirming for a few hours.

That feature that allows you to review and/or re-record your message has been a lifesaver many a times for me (not because I had the above scenario occur again, but because I tend to fumble around when talking); but that time it didn't occur to me to use it I guess...I was in such a state of shock. :sofahider

Awww I know how stressful that can be.... I've made tons of silly mess-ups out of nervousness. Anyway, try not to stress on it too much, try again tomorrow if you don't hear anything, and call to see if there is a nurse recruiter or someone in the nursing office you can talk to. It is a busy time for hiring (new grads are on the loose!) so maybe she is caught up in other things. Even if you did say something wrong the first time, I don't think that would be a reason not to call you back :)

When I was applying for a new job back in Sept, I got 2 callbacks within days of each other.

The first place was where I am working now, and the HR dept was great.

The second place, I received a message on the machine saying they would like to interview me and to please call them back. I called back early the next morning and left a message. I also called 3 days later. No response.

I love my job that I took, but I was very annoyed that she never called me back after I left a message.

You could always call and leave another message saying that you are still interested, and to please let you know if the position is still available or has been filled so that you can look into other options.
