I am curious what the job market is like for RNs with one year (acute care hospital) experience. Are you having as much difficulty as new grads finding jobs? Or does that "one year of experience" really open up many more job opportunities? I know many hospitals advertise for at least a year of experience, but are they actually hiring those RNs that meet that minimum requirement?
I really appreciate any input!

It entirely depends where you are. Experience is always a plus in any country. Two years worth of experience is very much the norm when being hired by hospitals in the UAE (Abu Dhabi for instance).

Certainly one year is light years better than a new grad in this market. I was overseas and because of that ended up only working 6 months out of the last 3 years. However, I've been a nurse since 1995, including several years in tele/stepdown, and the last four years in ICU, and I've had a tough time getting calls for interviews. It's an insanely difficult market it seems. MUCH harder than in years past. It was a tough market for new grads when I graduated. But not for experienced nurses like it is now....Be glad you have a year in! :)
