[i've got people in my A&P that cheat too. In fact, practically the entire class openly cheats b/c the prof. leaves the room. they justify it by saying that the prof. makes the class too hard and wants us to cheat. i know how you feel - it's annoying b/c i bust my butt for the grades - honestly, though, overall i think people that cheat don't do well as a rule overall. it will catch up with them eventually - maybe not this class - but someday.

I think your professor leaves the class cause he trusts you not to cheat!!:uhoh3: Classes like these are hard because it takes time to assimilate the info... Its not hard to learn the info.... just have to put in the time

I was faced with this my first semester of school. I did not know if the teachers knew it or not. If they did then they would handle it, if they did not then they were blind.

What happened is this student "failed" clinical and though they told her she could reapply she was never accepted back in.

The clinical grade is very subjective. She apealed and lost. I felt confident that they would not accept her back if she did reapply and ofcourse that was the case.

naturally the instructor was "blamed" as being too judgemenatal and she even admitted to some of us later that she might have been quick to judge.

However, we were relieve this student was gone. I think her instincts were at work with this student.

She not only cheated she stole. AND she felt justified in doing both.

Good for you for telling the prof!!!!!!! Not only are you maybe saving her possible future patients lives, your saving your own butt!

I don't have any suggestions as to whether to turn them in - that is your call. But I would like to say that I am so gald i came across this post. the cheating in my classes is so widespread - i am not eaxaggerating when i say half the class, although some more than others - that i was initially flabbergasted and then thought i must have the problem b/c i refuse to cheat or help others do so. i am glad to see that others find this behavior unacceptable. i graduated from law school several years back and i never encountered anyone cheating.

"I was in the wrong palce at the wrong time and I hate it but I WAS there. I needed to do the right thing."

See thats exactly right, wrong place at the wrong time. The way I see it... how dare this person put you in that position. Thats what gets me about cheaters, they are only thinking of themselves, not the people around them and they deserve to get caught and penalized for what they do. You did the right thing by telling the instructor.

This was a major issue in my class. I say, worry about what you are doing only. There is no reason in college to act like you are in 3rd grade. It is not your job to be hall monitor.

r now.

What's that saying, cheaters never prosper?

I believe in karma - they may not get caught for it now, but it'll come back to bite them in the butt one of these days... :)

I would report it. I'd be working too hard just to see the others who are out partying while I'm home studying.

However, it was common knowledge at my previous university that the sororities would have a "bank" of previous tests. The instructors would tend to wink it off because they usually had attended the same sororities as the students.

Kinda makes you wonder. BTW, the students at that university don't have the greatest pass rate on the NCLEX.

Cheating happened all the time in the nursing program I was in. We actually had one girl turning around to look at the girl's paper behind her. There is no way the instructors were able to miss this. In fact, they even passed a girl that did not contribute to class projects, was complained about (for legit reasons) by numerous nurses during clinicals and consistently cheated on exams. It made me sick because I worked hard for my grades. I just pray she didn't and others like her, don't pass the boards.
