Good Morning Allnurses Community,

I wanted to post this thread, because it would be interesting to find out how our Nursing and Non-Nursing community would answer this question? What is your dreams for the rest of your life? Are you living out your dream? I thought this might help some of you get some true focus on how you would like to live out the rest of your life.

The dreams I have are to lead a long, healthy happy life. Also to obtain the highest level of education I can and to make a positive impact. Right now I would say I am not living my dream...yet. I am planning on returning for a Master's degree in the fall. I work in an ER and it feels like assembly line nursing. My dream is to be able to actually make a difference in someone's life. I'd love to work in an outpatient clinic counseling people, or work in some type of setting where I could do patient education. I am not there yet but I am hoping this MS degree will get me closer!

BTW, what a nice question!

Great goals!! Keep pushing forward!! You will do it!!!

This is a tough question to answer and I'm almost afraid to answer it. I do have dreams, but life has plans for you also. Not necessarily bad plans, but sometimes you end up going in a different direction. I would like to believe that I'll go where ever the wind blows. Yes, who doesn't want to be happy and successful? My dream is to continue helping as many people as I can.

Although I still have five more months of nursing school, my eventual dream is to practice nursing in a foreign country. I want to work as a med surg nurse for two years and then practice in a different country for a couple of months. I think ship nursing might be interesting as well. I dream of being a well sought after nurse, one who is knowledgeable and resourceful. I'd like to go for my masters after that and continue to make a difference.

Once I'm done nursing school (I'm just finishing pre-reqs) and start working my entire pay will go to get my husband and I totally out of debt. Once that's done we plan on cruising extensively on our sailboat. We may either coastal cruise on the west coast while we build up a fund for long term, or just go and come back to work in the US when we need money for the next leg of our trip. This dream helps me get through the hard days when I feel overwhelmed. I helps me to set my jaw and just do what I need to do to get there.

My dream has absolutely nothing to do with nursing. My dream is to spend time traveling around the eastern U.S. hitting all of the historical areas, particularly those related to the Civil War. I would like to spend at least three months each winter renting a condo on the South Carolina Coast and doing historical research in that area, as it is so rich in history. My ultimate dream is to write an historical book, either fiction or non-fiction. I would also like to spend at least a week out of each year in Gettysburg, PA and/or Philadelphia, PA. I LOVE those places!!!!

My dream is to work as little as possible. :D But until that happens, our dream (my husband and I) is to sell our house, move to Oregon and live as simply as possible and save lots of money so we can work less and travel more. We have seriously thought about living in a camper for awhile, it sure would make moving easy!

My dreams are to complete my nursing education and go on to obtain higher degrees and expand my knowledge bank until I can no longer hold any more information. I want to make a difference in at least one life, but I feel that nursing will help me make a difference in many more lives than that. I want to eventually have children and watch them succeed. I want to travel, but I also always want to have a place to call home. I realize I may have to change up my dreams a little bit due to life, but as long as a have a general goal, I am happy.

This was definitely a thought provoking question, thank you.

I dream everyday of being free to live life on my terms.

I want to be dept free, work as little as possible and travel the world.

Dreams-be debt free, including the house, within 10 years.

Finish MSN in 2010 and continue to be an educator in a clinic setting until retirement.

Retire by age 60-65(20-25 years from now) or at least work part-time by then.

Saving my pennies and investing so I can have a somewhat comfortable retirement.

Be happy with the decisions my husband and I make regarding our lives and our children's lives.

Spend each day with my family as if it is my last-enjoy EVERY moment .
