Hi everyone,

I been asked to give presantation about Why is it important for the nurse to follow the Aseptic Techniques?

Can you please help me with the idea and how to start, any Idea?

Thanks ,

what is aseptic and why would a septic (not aseptic, but a septic) caregiver be bad for an acutely ill pt. who, say, just came out of surgery?

You first need to know the differences between asepsis and sepsis. What are the benefits and consequences of asepsis vs sepsis. Hope this helps.

I think you could try to create a visual description. An example would be to compare two nurses who will care for you the patient and are going to perform a dressing change on your wound. Picture nurse number one, "Nancy Nurse" who comes in after eating a greasy hamburger for lunch, applies lipstick and blows her nose. She does not wash her hands......

Then comes nurse number two "Nurse Nogerms" who comes in to the room, washes her hands as she introduces herself, applies gloves as she asesses the wound before the dressing change.

Compare aseptic technique (hand washing, universal precautions) to no aseptic technique. Discuss different pathogens, diseases that can be transmitted and the routes of transmission.

Just some ideas.....
