What hours do you work?

I was just curious to know what schedule all the RN's out there work? I would like to do 3 days on and 3 days off myself, but will take whatever comes available. Please no negative comments- there seems to be a lot of rude people on here for some reason who love to argue for no reason whatsoever. God bless!

Specializes in Plastics. General Surgery. ITU. Oncology.

My hospital is old-fashioned and still does the old 8-hour shifts. An Early is 7.30AM to 15.30 PM, a Late is 13,00 to 21.00 so I get a mixture of these shifts five days a week UNLESS I am on nights which are seven 12 hour shifts in a row followed by seven days off.

Specializes in psych,maternity, ltc, clinic.

I wourk M-F flexible 8 hour day shift. I work in Assisted living.

In hospitals I did 8 and 12 hour shifts, mostly night shift. I have worked anywhere from FTE .5-1.0. I liked 3 back to back 12's but it is all you do is work and sleep during those 3 days, but then have some time off. My favorite schedule was 4 10 hour shifts in a clinic.(m-th) I was sick of night shift by then, and i liked a 3 day weekend every week.

I'm a home health nurse and make my own schedule:)

I work Monday through Friday 7-4pm with an hour for lunch....I LOVE my hours :D I work in an outpatient psychiatric clinic.

I am a RN, i work at my local hospital. We do self scheduling (for the most part, a few changes here and there) but we do work 12 hr shifts. Some work 3 days per week and others 4-5 days per week. :)

We do self scheduling, work every other weekend scheduled.

Specializes in Endoscopy/MICU/SICU.

I work Fri, Sat, and Sun nights from 6:30pm - 7am. We have 8 and 12 hour shifts on our floor, and are unbelievably short staffed, so people get to work pretty much whenever they want to.

Dear nurses everywhere,

I am not worried at this point what hours I should work. I am a new grad RN, have been looking everywhere for a job since Jan. 2008. If I do not get a job by the end of this year , I am leaving nursing completely to pick up my broken life and spirit. I would like some input from all of you out there. Thanks. From: I am an RN but not practicing.
