Hello Everyone,

I have a question about Nursing . I don't really understand what the point of it is besides covering your nursing butt when you need it covered but can someone explain the purpose and any suggestions on an insurance company that provides it? Thanks for your help!

Go to the website of one of the providers, http://www.nso.com, and you can read up on the need for insurance. You can also do a search on this site and read several threads from the past on this subject. As one who has been involved in a lawsuit, I can tell you this: necessary. The employer provided legal counsel. At our first meeting, the first words out of their mouths: "Do you have ?". Then they told the nurses involved, that although they were representing us as well as the employer, that could END at any time. Before the case ended, they were no longer representing me. So, yes, of course, I advise one to get their own insurance.

This topic was discussed in more than one of my nursing classes. Likewise, we were required to purchase student insurance. I'm surprised your school didn't talk about it.

Caliotter3,

Thank you for the reply:typing Our school did talk about it in the beginning of the year but they didn't explain of how to obtain it or where to go. I just knew that regardless of where we worked, as long as we were doing patient care we needed it. Thank you for the website I will definately do some research today! I am just nervous because I start orientation tomorrow at a LTC center here where I live and I am not sure of what to expect or how I will do. Thanks again!
