What are my chances?

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hello,

Just joined the site, but have been reading threads for a while. I just submitted my application for review for Chamberlain College of Nursing. I really want to get in. I have a 3.02/4.0 GPA and got a 91% on my A2 entrance exam. I am applying early for the summer 2011 (July 5th) start. I included a personal statement in which I explained the attributes of a good nurse (compassion, hard work, and multi-tasking capabilities) and how I demonstrated each of these throughout my life. I also had a letter of rec. from two professors and one from a politician in the Illinois House of Reps currently.

Any input would be appreciated!!

Sounds like you have a good start, and chance of getting in. You did all the right things. It would also be important to know the competition at your school - how many others are trying to get accepted, and how many students do they accept each semester?

Every nursing school is different, so it is difficult to predict your chances of getting in. It sounds like you have researched and done the right things. Hopefully the school doesn't weigh heavily on g.p.a. because a 3.02 isn't as competitive as it could be. I would suggest applying to other nursing schools too so you have a plan B to fall back on just in case.

Definitely apply to others as well.. You don't want to be left with nothing in case something doesn't go through. Always have multiple backup plans!

Apply to other schools, especially with a start date six months off; it can't hurt, and it might help. The chamberlain near me is not choosy about students, so I'd say your scores give you a good chance, but it varies from location to location. Best of luck to you!
