this is not right! i work with this nurse who gets her school term papers written for her by co-workers. this nurse is an lpn in an associate degree program. this is the same the school i graduated from. one time she asked me if i could help her with one of her papers on schizophrenia, i told her i couldn't but gave her a paper i had written in school on depression years ago to use as an example. i gave her other papers that i were well written to follow the format. but it is obvious that she is not using them. for some of our co-workers, they write the papers for her.on saturday night, i watched a co-worker handed her a five page term paper. she did not hide it from me, she said "thank god i have some good friends to help me out". this is not the first time. i really feel it is very wrong but do not want to say anything. these are the big kahunas of the unit helping her out. they have been there for donkey years and have never experience nursing in any other place. this lady is always bringing them special foods and drinks.

should i say anything or just keep my lips zipped?.:nono::nono::nono::nono::nono::nono:

So how does this practice affect this student's basic knowledge or clinical skills? No matter how she learns the information, she is the one who needs to pass her exams.

Do you consider this a personal threat to you?

Hi, what an :uhoh21:awlful spot to be in and its so not fair! If you are sure that is what she is doing then I think you should speak up. It may not seem like a big deal to a lot of people but its that kind of person who charts falsely etc. Nursing school is hard for a reason, to weed out people who are not committed to being a great nurse. Best of luck !:nurse:

Wow, those are some generous friends she has! How do people manage to get their friends to bend over backwards for them like that? She must be very popular.

Honestly? Unless you yourself are enrolled in school with this lady, I would keep my mouth shut. Yes it stinks but it really isn't any of your concern. Stuff like this usually comes back to get you in the end-she will get hers one day.

Stay out of it. She still needs to pass her boards so if she doesn't study enough or learn the material herself it will come back to bite her in the end.

No, it's not right, but are you sure you want to step in that stinky pile of poo?

The majority of us had to work very hard for our education and licenses. It makes me very protective of my own. I promise you that a person with such little regard for their education and profession will not be with us long.

The boards, the patients, her peers or management will all weed out a person of this caliber. You do not have to take this on, you have enough on your plate getting a quality education for yourself.

It's wrong, but I would let it go.

I am a huge advocate against cheating, but personally, until you get into upper-level nursing where writing papers helps you understand theory, I personally find papers a waste of time and busy work.

It's not going to make her a better nurse, better on skills, etc.

We had to do this huge project first year where we had to write a paper as a group on a foreign culture. Biggest PITA project I've ever had in my life, two members wouldn't do their job, and in the end, they made us write about a culture that I MIGHT see 15 times in my career.

If this is the worst treatment you get in your nursing career, then you should be thankful (have I got some stories...for another time). Always remember, life is NOT fair...especially on the job.

You don't (and I wouldn't recommend it) have to be her friend. Her behavior can/should not interfere with your performance as a nurse. In fact, if it does, then you have only one person to blame:nono:.

My suggestion is to bite your lip, ignore what she is doing, and spend your time and energy doing your job to your best ability. You will be noticed for your dedication and performance...as she will be recognized for her lack of passion and integrity. But, that IS her business. Don't let it become yours.

Keep the faith and passion that you have.:yeah:

THey cant take Nclex for her. So let it go. Who knows how many other students are doing the exact same thing.

I did have a class mate of mine copy (with minor changes) a paper of mine and I did turn her in.

That was because I didnt want the teacher to think I copied off of her...I worked too hard and paid too much money to go to nursing school to let someone risk it for me.

I'm in an accelerated RN to BSN program and it was made very clear from day one that cheating will not be tolerated and they have ways of checking our research papers to find out if we are cheating. And that we would be expelled - no chances.

It is too bad that someone blatantly does this - out in public. If she mentions it again to you, personally I'd be honest with her about how wrong it is.

I'm sorry this happens. It says a lot about a person's integrity and nurses carry peoples lives in their hands . . .. you need integrity.
