Hello, and thanks for taking time to check out my thread. I was accepted to attend MCI in the fall of this year and I am really nervous. I am excited, but more worried on how to pay for the school, and in the end am I going to like it and if its going to be the right training I need to be in the nursing field! Is it really going to affect me having just a diploma but not a degree in practical nursing? If anyone has attended this school, please help me out and tell me how your experience was. I will be going to the one in VA. Also if you have completed the program, have you been able to get a job anywhere?

LPN's get a certificate not a degree, RN's recieve a degree . i'm sorry i don't know anything about your school. do you know what their NCLEX pass rate is? what city are you located in? maybe there is someone who can help you . can you apply for grants or financial aid? this is a great group of nurses and student nurses at this site and i'm sure someone will help. keep us posted on your schooling !!

i recieved some financial aid its just the rest have to pay for, I am gonna apply for more scholarships definitely. The programs passing rate is like 90% i will be in Richmond. Thanks for your reply by the way any info helps. I just hope the job as an LPN would be a great job for now since I'm still very young, and I hope to become an RN maybe some years later.

not the 'pass' rate, but the nclex rate :)

personally..imo..

i am paying 5,600 at a community college for my rn. i know how much mci costs, and i would not pay that for an lpn program.

there are cheaper options out there if cost is an issue :)

I hate to tell you, not all LPN's have a certificate. I personally have an associate degree in nursing and yes it is an LPN associate degree "Associate of Applied Science Degree Practical Nursing". I am currently an RN student and I had all my pre reqs out of the way for the RN program. So some LPN's do recieve degree's.
