this is just a quick thank you to the nurses that looked after me on my 2 trips to ED 2 weekends ago. I developed what turned out to be horrible virus that had me sleep for 4 days and not able to eat for another 3 and loose 5kg.

The first trip was on a Friday night (!) I know i didn't want to go being a nurse but my house-mate was rightly worried about me when i collapsed going to the bathroom and tried to run away from the big brown cow that was chasing me! O the joys of febrile hallucinations!(39.4) So off to ED and fast tracked for ? viral meningitis........as soon as they said those words my cardiac monitor shot up to the 140's..........I know what was coming. A lumbar puncture! Thanks to the very kind nurse and doctor who suggested a little IV midazolam pre procedure! I certainly agreed to it!

Anyway the LP was clear but kept in overnight because I was still vomiting. Out on Sat morning and back to bed. Woke up Sunday night severely dehydrated seeing that I hadn't had any fluids since the IV on Sat morning. Couldn't keep anything down so back to ED. Feeling very sorry for myself. Was being nursed by a nurse that I know but didn't care I was that sick. More IV fluids.......after the first bag was in I started to get teary wanting my dad who is in Ireland and I am in Australia! The nurse held my hand and let me cry it out and then gave me a wet wash-cloth to cool my face. That was so kind it meant as much to me as the IV metaclopramide and ondansatron and 6L of NS. Trust me it meant someone cared.

So to the nurses and docs on my 2 experiences as the patient. THANK YOU!

I see tiny stickmen marching against my blue bedroom wall.

I haven't lived in that house since I got married in 1965. I never run a fever, even with pneumonia.

But I can call my doc and say I'm sick I see the little men again. I know they're not there and sure enough i'm sick, When it becomes a platoon of tiny stickmen then wow I AM sick. Trade you one cow for all my stickmen oK?

haha! I dont really mind my cow, like you I know its not there. It seems to be tame most of the time only when I'm really sick is it chasing me and time to go see the doc! it reminds me of a pet cow we had when I was a kid!

I always wanted a goat., but I'd settle for a cow-maybe. Course I never got the pony I was promised 59 years ago either and my sister tore down the stable just last year. No pony.
