Staffing ratio

  1. What is your RNatient ratio for cardiac stepdown / progressive care type departments caring for pre/post cabg, pre/post PTCA/Stent (include pulling sheaths), AMI and general cardiac disease type patients. Do you have concrete data which ties your current staffing ratio to your quality indicators? Thanks!

    We have a 4 to 1 nurse patient ratio. No data to help with quality indicators:0

    5:1 DAYS USUALLY 4 RN'S AND 6-7:1 ON NIGHTS

    12 HOURS SHIFTS--THAT IS IF THEY CAN GET AND KEEP NURSES!!!!!

    4 to 1 when I worked that area of nursing. Didn't matter what shift it was, BUT that also varied from hospital to hospital. Not all of them were that NICE!
