My heart goes out to everyone there, as well as all of Joplin. I am watching on the news all the damage done by the tornado.....horrible!

I live in Joplin, I feel so helpless, everything is gone. I helped load three bodies in the back of a truck last night. I can't sleep, search and rescue will be going on for days. I can't get a hold of many friends, but luckily my family is okay. If ANYONE lives in the Joplin, MO region, please help if you can. We are in desperate need of nurses, doctors, ems, supplies, everything. Shelters are overwhellmed, triage centers are being set up and the only other hospital in town will not take patients.Sorry for going off topic, I just need some place to vent.

Thank you. our cousins are safe. Now it is storming again...continue to pray as they're inundated, people can't even get through on the lines to sign up to help and there's so many different answers about whether to come and help yet or not. It's really organzied chaos...if it is organized. I'm still...pinching myself. I just..yeah.

Also, several organizations are urging people to donate blood at their local banks. From my understading, they've issued a statement that o neg is needed desperately, there is less than a days supply left. There are several emergency donation sites that have been set up all over Kansas and Missouri. Go donate!
Go to http://www.koamtv.com, all of the information regarding volunteers is updated regularly.
Thanks! I tried calling the red cross number but all the local lines seem to be still jammed. Do you think they're just wanting RN's to help or LPNs cut it too?
Anybody with medical experience, as far as I know, is needed! I've heard from CNAs who've been assisting at temporary medical centers.
