Published

As a prospective student, I sometimes get "scared off" reading alot of the posts on allnurses.

So many UNHAPPY nurses and AWFUL job situations.

So, since I would like to accentuate the positive,,, I would like an informal survey of Nurses who Are happy with nursing as their choice of career.

Please let me know that there are GOOD WORKING ENVIRONMENTS out there!!!!!!

Specializes in Cardiac Step Down, PICU.

I'm a PICU nurse and love it. I work in a children's hospital. I see lots of sadness but many more happy endings! There are nice work environments out there. Good Luck to you!

Specializes in Ob/Gyn, Ped & PACU.

I am a contracted nurse for the Navy, taking care of soldiers and their dependents. I absolutely LOVE what I do. Besides the fact I am helping to take care of our nation's bravest members, I just love to help take care of people. There's a picture of me when I was about 2 years old & I was taking a BP on one of my uncles from my doctor kit. It is not WHAT I do for a living, it is WHO I am inside. :nurse: There is nothing I love more than being able to make an impact on the lives of others around me. The day I stop caring is the day I quit nursing.

Specializes in cardiac/critical care/ informatics.

yes I love nursing :) I have been in nursing for over 15 years. Yes there are good working environments out there.

Specializes in midwifery, NICU.

:) :) :wink2: Yes I LOVE what I do, love nursing the tinies in the NICU! i trained for three years to be a midwife, (UK), worked as one for a while, in labour suite etc, and rotated supposedly for three months to the NICU. Never left there, (7 years later!). I was born to be a Neonatal Midwife!

When you find your place..you WILL know!

Good Luck for the future!!! Be Happy!:monkeydance:

Specializes in dialysis, OR.

If you go into nursing, it has to be because you are "called" to do it. It cannot be for the money, because it is not that much money. To the nurses who chose nursing for the correct reasons, it is who we are, it is not what we do.

:yeahthat: Though I have to agree with the poster who said the money's not bad either..... (though I like the flexibility of nursing and the comraderie also. There's a certain bond among nurses...... It is certainly who we are and not what we do......)
