Hello, im currently a Senior in High school and my goal for college is to get a bsn. Then work for a little bit to pay off some debt then try to get into a CRNA program.Right now I am a cna and work prn at my local hospital and full time at a local nursing home. Does being a cna help twords the bsn program at all as for skipping a couple classes? Also I got an outlook for tarleton university *texas* bsn program and i have to take SUMMER CLASSES! for the first 2 years, does every other bsn program have to do the same??

Any tips or advice would be GREATLY appreciated :D

Thanks :nuke:

Being a CNA will help you when it comes time for clinicals -- you will probably have an easier transition then some people. And doing bedside care will obviously be easier for you.

However, being a CNA doesn't allow you to skip any classes. In nursing school, we spent only two weeks on learning bedside care (bed baths, making beds, etc.) otherwise from there on it was learning RN duties.

Once admitted to the nursing portion of my BSN program, we go to school year round for 16 months, including summers. Required summers are not that uncommon in nursing school because schools are trying to push out as many grads possible.

Hello, and congrats on choosing what you want to do early in life! My BSN program actually doesn't offer any actual nursing courses during the summer. You can take pharm or other sciences during the summer, and electives, but all the required classes are only offered during the actual school year, so it's possible you can find another similar school.
