RN's Who Are DACA (Deferred Action For Childhood Arrivals)

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hi,

I'm an RN who is in the process of receiving DACA approval, but I'd like to know if there are any others out there, and also, I've graduated 5 years ago, the only experience I have is of begin a nanny/babysitter; are there any hospitals in NYC that are opening to hiring and training new grads, since I graduated over 5 years now and haven't been accorded the opportunity to practice my skills? (DACA has now made that possible). Any helpful, supportive response would be highly appreciated. (Also I need to start working asap, and I have no $$ at the moment for a refresher course)

You need to speak to an attorney who has experience in these matters in your state. Yes, you will need to pay for that. Good luck.

Hi,

What state are you from? were you able to get your license

I didn't need to speak with an attorney and didn't need to pay for anything ! There were many DACA nurses at the time that I submitted this post, and thankfully I was not alone in this situation ! Agencies were willing to hire with no experience, and 5 years later I'm a-ok. Life only gets better :)

Yes! I had my license for a while! NY state has a lot of opportunities for new grads who are willing to get their feet wet via agencies who hire and are willing to train. Pessimistic people don't go far in life- those who believe in the "impossible" do :)
