RN Renewal question

Hi there,

I changed my name from my maiden name to my married name with the BRN. I don't see any reflection of my old name anywhere in my account. For example, no where does it have an area of "previous name" or "maiden name". When I renewed my RN license, I attached copies of my CE's which have my maiden name on it.

My question is, do you think this will be a problem? Or do they know that this is my maiden name on the CE's somehow since I did submit the change?

Basically, do I need to worry or just relax?

Thanks!

Hello!

There is only one way to find out... call them to verify if you took the right steps in the right order.

Sorry I could not be of more help.

I can't get a hold of the BRN. I submitted my name change 2 years ago.

I'm confused, if you changed your name 2 years ago...

1) When did you take your CEs?

2) Why would your CEs still have your maiden name?

3) When did you renew your license?

1) Yes, in 2013 I changed my last name.

2 )The hospital I worked at since 2011 still used my maiden name

3) my ce's are from 2015

4) I renewed my license today

And, it did renew it online today. I am just more concerned they will look at the attachment and revoke my renewal? they should have my maiden name on file there somewhere, but I just don't see it at my end when I log onto the site.

If challenged, you could send them a copy - probably a certified copy - of your marriage license.

I expect that your social security number is in there somewhere, as well as your former name. I"m sure their computer log systems links all of your identities together. Think of all the folks who have had more than two names-- this is not an uncommon situation and in a profession where more members are female, not unexpected. But if you have questions, the people to ask are at the BoN, not here.

I was fortunate enough to talk to someone at the BRN and he is in charge of the CE's. He said it was fine and not to worry. :)

Thanks everyone for your feedback and support

Also, the BON would have your SSN, so your name and previous names would be traceable.
