Alright quick background, I do so much reading on here I figured I'd finally post something and seek out some advise! I am a 25 year old male RN, motivated self starter, 2 years STNA/CNA experience in long term care and then 2 years EMT-B hospital ER experience (through RN school) 1 year RN in the surgical ICU (Cleveland Clinic), During my ICU Residency (1st job) I finished my BSN through , my CCRN (I worked overtime to meet the hour requirement to test) and have been accepted for NP school Aug 2016 and it's relatively local - a place about 50 minutes away. Now during my residency program I picked up a job in a facility working as a PRN restorative / rehabilitation nurse... Anyway that job offered me the DON - yes a huge opportunity and yes I did have to go through weeks of selection interviews etc etc, plus testing... I think what it came down to was ICU experience at Cleveland Clinic... Why it was hard to leave the clinic I couldn't turn down the money. (Not to mention no weekends / holidays / first shift and being able to leave because I have another commitment when necessary - will be great in NP school. Anyway this new role is really a challenge and I am seeking out new certs / resources to study from. So far I am looking to pursue my RN-BC gerontology during this phase, and possibly WGU 6 month MBA before I start NP School to better help my new role. I finished the WGU BSN in 3 months so think I could pretty easily do it in six months this time around. Does anyone have any ideas of resources or opportunities that I am either not aware of or not pursuing during this time that could help me career wise? Any input is encouraged and I appreciate it! :)
