Hi! I have been a nurse since 2008. Worked on a pediatric/adult med surg floor for about 6 months, then went to Home health for 2-3 months then off for high risk pregnancy, returned to Home health (same company), worked for 5-6 months fulltime then part time until the patient load was no longer available and the job fizzled out. I've also been doing part time industrial nursing since last May. This job is for a RN in a Bariatric weight loss out patient center. The surgery is in the hospital where I will not be..I am pre op and post op in the out patient clinic, that follows the patient for check ups as well. I did an hour long interview with him over the phone and he said he picked my resume because I had no grammatical errors. He also said that he didn't put mine at the top only because it looked like I job jumped, but I explained it all to him and in fact I am not a job jumper lol So anyways, he said Doctors, nutritionists, and other nurses will interview me. I have been through a peer interview before with the home health and of course got through it and was hired, twice. But I have NEVER done this with a doctor...I am not a "seasoned" nurse and am terrified. Any suggestions on what I need to brush up on? I have never worked with Bariatric patients before so I am going to research the clinic and learn about them and what they do.....UGH! I am scared and the interview is Monday! :crying2:

wow! I have no idea but I just wanted to wish you luck. Its hard to get jobs these days. Doctors doing interviews? I have never heard of that before. I have heard of a group of nurses, staff members, managers, higher ups........

anyways, I will keep you in my prayers.:)

Big hugs and good luck! I think you are on the right track on brushing up on the center.

My boss has me sit in on overviews. His advice on what to look for is interest and knowledge in. the facility and someone who knows their weaknesses and how to compensate.

He said he likes people that ask questions of him and dont sit there like a bump on a log.

That's all I can help with. Again, good luck.

Specializes in Home health was tops, 2nd was L&D.

Peer interviews can be tough. But I never had one with a physician.. so that might be okay. I find with nurses though you must be careful what you say as I have run into ones who do not want anyone on board who might do really well. It is like a high school group, you can join as long as the leader is smarter, prettier etc.

The NM that I know that use them have told me this is to ensure that staff does not ***** they do not like the new person later and gets them out of making the decision in case it might not be the right one! Somehow to me that is wrong!

Just my two cents, that's all. Yes learn all you can ahead of time and do ask questions about the facility, number of surgeries, success rates( if they seem successful) Best of luck to you.
