I am looking for a good online rn-bsn program. I have applied to jacksonville university, university of phoenix, and kaplan. Jacksonville university was my first choice but they want me to take about 30 extra gen. ed. credits. I have an associate of applied science only need 2 humanities electives to have an associate of science. Kaplan and uop only require that I take those missing humanities classes. I have actually taken one class through uop. I like there program but don't like the group projects. Kaplan has a partnership with my nursing school and provides a tuition discount. This discount actually makes it the cheapest program I have looked into. I have read some bad reviews for kaplan on here but they don't seem to be specific to the bsn program. Does anyone have personal experience with kaplans rn-bsn program? Are there any other programs that you would recomend that don't have group projects or at least don't require every other assignment to be a group project? Any advice would be appreciated!

I don't like the group projects and am matriculating at Excelcior College.

Hello, What does the group project entail? Is it like research papers cos BSN is mostly research papers. Try UTA (University of Texas at Arlighton) It's a very good and organised online RN-BSN program and the tuition is also reasonable. I'm currently enrolled there and so far so good!

I'm attending Kaplan University. I'm finishing up my second term.Academically wise it is a good school but I have to take at least 18 classess for my RN to BSN.I think this term they added more electives to their BSN program! One of the good thing about this program is that they also have a RN to Master option, so when you reach the end of your BSN program you can take two master classess as your electives and then if you decide to go for your Master you will get credits toward your graduate degree. Also they require two master classess for their BSN degree which is pretty cool since you can taste the waters to see if you want to continue with your Master. Also they added Nurse practicioner program year.I'm not totally happy with their financial aid. I get federal loans and this term decided to enroll in two classess, the financial aid lady never told me that my loans wont entirely cover those two classess and now I own 700 dollars to this school. You have to be very careful with their financial aid,I would suggest you shop around and find a cheaper school.

Group projects are where instructor assigns you to a team and the team does research and power point with every member being assigned different parts. The key term is assigned.. No matter what team I was on.. one other nurse and myseld did all the work.. but everyone got an "A" We cared about our GPA because we planned on getting MSN one day.. others did not.. One girl was MIA all during the project.. Yes it was documented to instructor but as it is a team the team got the "A".. Thank you I will do my own work and get my own grade. And with online being all over the country the time changes and work schedules were silly.

I am told Chamberlain does not have group work,, but that one or two instructors might chose to have a group project. same thing but they have a funny pass/fail no GPA program which concerns many who need to go on to MSN. You might want to check under Student forum as there is lots of good info there. Good luck.

I graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2009 and I only had to take 6 hrs of religion credits and 3 of those were a DANTES test. Statistics is also required, but I had taken that previously. There were group power point projects in almost every class, but I had an awesome grooup. I lived oveseas and had a 5-6 hr time diffeence and it was never an issue. They were cheaper than U of Phoenix. I started in May of 2008 and graduated in Dec of 2009. I worked full time and thanks to WiFi I was able to see Europe while in school.
