Pre employment assessment?

Hi! I'm a new grad nurse and just found out I have to take a 'Prophecy pre-employment assessment' that lasts 2-3 hours and after they get the results I move forward in the application process. Since I'm a new grad I'm super nervous I won't know what to do! Has anyone taken this and have any advice?

Thanks!

I've taken prophecy exams before. They were not bad. I took them at home and was able to open a new window and google any info I wasn't sure about but I think I would have done fine without looking anything up. Being a new grad is probably an advantage because things are still fresh in your mind. Good luck!

OMG - if you were able to "google any info", it was certainly not much of an assessment was it? Actually, I don't know why anyone would use that method for a pre-employment assessment since it didn't result in an authentic analysis of the applicant's actual capability. Seems like a waste of money and time.

As an educator, I can go on record stating that I am against any sort of pre-employment assessment other than the hiring manager's interview. IMO, These types of in depth assessments should be only used after you're hired in order to identify any knowledge or skill gaps that should be addressed in orientation.

Prophecy is an online multiple choice exam. Sort of based on clinical scenarios. Results are immediately available & they have a standard 'passing score'. I don't believe that this system takes into account the level of experience of the test taker, so the employer would just have to determine whether to accept a lower score for new grads or other inexperienced nurses.

Thanks! I agree I think it's silly... but I'm so desperate for a job I'll do anything! wish me luck!
