I have a question regarding Rotator Cuff Surger. I had surgery just about 1 mo ago and the rehab is quite painful. I expected (from the wisdom of my surgeon) that I would be able to do more with my arm by now. Has any of you had RTC repair, (athroscopy) + sad mumford procedure. If so what was your experience? Were you able to return to your previous duties? so far I am only able to have p.r.o.m. and my range is only at 90 deg. I have started Physical therapy 2x wk for 6 wks prom only. Its as if I have to tell my hand what to do. As you can see, Im rather frustrated (urgh). I also have muscle atrophy. This is such a painful surgery and rehab. I can't do a thing...

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Your problems are what were repeated to me four years ago by a friend who had previously underwent the same operation. And that reason along with your current story is why I chose not to have mine operated on. It hurts after a good work out and the arm is a little less stable with certain exercises, but i didnt think it was worth all the agony. That and my doctor said once you tear your rotator cuff, its much easier to do it again. Good luck to you though with the rehab and you will get the vast majority of your ROM back and strength. Just a lot of work

My mom had this surgery done about 4 years ago. She diligently participated in physical therapy, she even set up the prescribed exercise routine at home and faithfully did all of the exercises as prescribed by the physical therapist.

She regained full ROM and is pain free, although the recovery did take a few months.
